anybody know if there is a sim out there for a playstation 3. my computer is pretty much crap and wont run a descent sim. ive downloaded the demos from phoenix and reflex but i dont have a 3d graphix card so it wont even run em. would be great if there was somethin out there that would run on a ps3.

RE: sim
Now ya have me thinking.....(Scary)... I'am not to keen with electronics, but I'll have to experiment with my G4 on the Xbox 360... Not sure how that would work since ya can't download the cd's that has the program on it, but I bet ya can run the 360 through the computer some way ? Hmmmm.... I'am gonna have to tinker later... :D I think I'am dreaming here, but it will keep my mind busy for a bit at least !

RE: sim
ya, i dont know too much about the 360 but the ps3 has the usb ports, basicly a computer n e way, and plays the blu ray discs, those should have plenty of room for one of these sim companies to work with. at least it would eliminate alot of compatibility issues(system requirements) if they started targeting some of these gaming systems. well maybe someday.

RE: sim
I noticed that the Xbox 360 has those USB ports also, and that's what had me thinking after you were wondering about these gaming sytems... I would have to say you probably can't, but I'am still curious as I had thought I had the 360 hooked up through my computer way back when I bought it... I would maybe hope that I can use my computer to host the program, but use the 360 to run G4, but I know I'am dreaming here but still..... :)
Yeah maybe someday they will be able to reach out to more people with the sims through there gaming sytems which ya think would run the programs better anyway, since there designed for that purpose specifically. ;) Take care Baurwin..... ~ Jeff |
RE: sim
Here's a link that might show why they don't have our sims available for the XBOX 360/PLAYSTATION 3 :

RE: sim
Find a sim that can run on linux. Then you can install linux on your ps3 and install the sim on your ps3 on linux. No clue if that would work, but its possible. You can try ubuntu, fedora or yellow dog linux to install on your ps3. The download for this should be on the companies website.
I know you can install programs on linux on the ps3 but you may have a problem when you hook up your controller to your ps3. You may need to install something extra that can make the ps3 recognize the controller. Ask in a tech/video game forum. You probably will get better answers. |
RE: sim
J-Michael that was some interesting reading. its hard to believe that so many people seem to be against more options. i would pay $200 for it on a ps3. i just dont want to go buy a new computer just to have a good sim. i bet there are alot of people like me that have these newer gaming systems but dont have the computer to run these sims. not to mention, when it comes to all the minimum and ideal requirements, im lost lol. if it said works on ps3 or 360, then u know ur good to go. i guess ill either have to make do with my pos esky sim or suck it up and figure out a way to invest in another puter. blah.

RE: sim
Hey guys,
I guess there just wounldn't be the market for the companies to invest in making a sim for the PS3/Xbox 360... Too bad, because it would run really well on those machines...the PS3 in particular is very powerful indeed... I was just reading that Sony has just now brought the production costs down to a resonable level for the PS3...they are consolidating some components in the production process....and they are now able to break even on the costs to build it vs. it's retail price... The article was saying that the original (like mine) PS3 costs about $690 to produce...and that Sony was losing $$$$ on each one they sold...[sm=omg_smile.gif] Just somthing to think about...;) Glenn |
RE: sim
I tried using a PS game controller on my PC and of course it doesn't work. My thought was that a good gamer might be good on a simulator with the right controller. And then, why not make a game control interface for the Tx? It's not conventional, but if it works - ya know?

My computers video card is crap too, I play game consoles only. This sim will run on mine just fine. http://www.flying-model-simulator.com/ It's free too. It is not a very realistic sim, but it will teach you controls especially heli's. Give it a shot, its even got a back to the future delorean that flies with heli controls.:D You might want one of these to. http://www.rc-fever.com/fms-usb-simu...ba-p-1351.html They are cheaper on ebay though. |
RE: sim
brett65 - ya, thats the one im actually usin, i hop on the g4 ever time i go to the lhs though, man there is just a world of difference, but i guess its better than nothin.
solo - that would be pretty interesting ifin it was set up on a gaming cotroller lol, but the tx's are not that much different from holdin a ps3 controller, or at least the thumbs part n e way. |

Kelly was just talking about wanting to get one the other day... (She likes the Blue-Ray player...LOL...) Baurwin ~ I run G4 on a $1200 Toshiba laptop which is just average quality and luckily came with a graphics and sound card which operates the simulator for me with no probs... I have some of the settings set to a lower quality to help and have been pleased with it since I've had it for the past 8 months. Just some FYI for ya, if you do happen to get a new PC and preferably a desktop you won't have to spend a buttload to run G4... I almost got a new desktop from Circuit City awhile back that was only $400.00 on sale but never did, and the computer was built specifically for gaming and had the high end graphics and sound card, and would have allowed G4 to run at its full potential... The G4 is a VERY nice simulator, and I would recommend it... I've also heard from others (including Glenn from above) that the Phoenix sim is a good one also, and doesn't require so much to run on your computer like G4 does...;) Take care, ~ Jeff |
