Weird problem with Blade MCX
 

I've got a brand new MCX and I noticed that when I put the fresh battery the heli tends to turn to the right. So I trim the rudder but as I fly and battery gets used up (but it is still perfectly fine and has enough energy for at least 5 minutes) the heli turns to the right slowly. So I trim the rudder in another direction. Then putting fresh battery again makes it want to turn left and I need to trim in in another direction.

In other words it seems like battery voltage variation through the flight is affecting rudder. I thought this heli has HH gyro :(

As far as I know, you don't get the head holding gyro until you get to the CX3. I just did a quick RTFM and could find no mention of a head holding gyro with the MCX.

no head holding gyro. what your getting is normal, you just need to get used to it. i slowly trim it while i'm flying it. as you've seen, depending on the charge of the batt wiil effect the tail

The CX2 is the same way there is always drift. Eventually you just get over it and compensate. Probably good training for the future when you have a bigger heli and are flying outside in the wind.

It used to bother me a lot, but now I don't think much about it.

make sure your swash plate is evenly space all around this could affect the coax vortex speed. Hum:eek:

What do you mean by an evenly spaced swashplate? Do you mean level?

Also what is the definition of "coax vortex speed"? Are you referring to assymetric vortex due to rotor wash?

I run a hobby shop... I have sold over 200 of these since they came out. I have done many demos as well.

Make sure you have a fresh battery when starting. After plugging it in, there is a pause for the bind, make sure the heli is on a flat surface before it initializes. you will need to trim then and yes, just like the big ones with (cx2-cx3, Blade 400) when the flight time/battery use is increased, you lose the tail. You dont see it as much until the end of the flight or battery life with the big ones, but as you increase power it will yaw on its own.

My true feelings on this heli: IT SPOILS YOU. If you are struggling with this effect, DONT FLY THE BIG ONES :) You constantly have to fly a heli. Letting go of the sticks with the MCX (because it is so stable) will rarely happen with ANY heli that is bigger

I love this Heli and hope this helps. It truly is a great flying heli.

Sorry one more thing.. after the first minute you should have it trimmed. Dont continually trim the heli, as in your comment, you will have to trim it again after a new battery. Just fly with the yaw effect and know that when it starts, the battery is coming to its end.

Yeah, the heli indeed spoils me. If I am tired or lost I just let go and it stays in hover. I guess it will teach me bad habits and it would be harder to learn a bigger one.

Having said that I find the stick controls used in today's RC helis are really poor choice of controllers compared to real helicopter where you have rudder on feet, and not on collective.
