Hyperion Super Chipmunk 70E
Hi guys,
I'm working on my first electric airplane and I just made a quick video of it and wanted to show it and see what you think and leme know if you have any suggestions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKcLS1_8GLA
This is my Hyperion Super Chipmunk 70E. It's almost completed and I wanted to get a video out before the maiden flight. It's powered by a PJS 3D 3000 motor and it will be swinging a 14X8 prop
I am using 2 4S 14.8V 3000mAh 35C lipo batteries that I will run in parallel to get 6000mAh from which should give me good run times. The motor will be connected to a 80 amp Brushless ESC and I will be using a Spektrum DX6i transmitter and Spektrum AR500 Receiver.
Cheers,
Chris

Chris ... she isa lovely plane, I just dorked mine recently and gave it away since I wanted to clear my hangar. Just watch the canopy, mine always comes off in a knife edge. Also, if you can, use 2 HS225s or HS85MGs on the elevators. The stock elevator push rod needs to be bent and that makes it flexible, not that it will cause problems when flying but if I were to do it again, it would be with 2 HS85s I guess.
I am not very familiar with your motor but for a 4S set up it seems a little low on the KV for a 14x8. I think she may need to be pushed to a 16x10 on 4S. Check with a watt meter if you can pull about 50A-55A at the very least.Mine was running with a DualSky 4260-577 KVmotor on 5S and a 14x7E prop.
I think the Chippi is one of the most beautiful looking plane in the air.

Chris,
Nice chipmunk, I have a smaller worldmodels chipmunk.... well I'm on my second one They are an awesome plane in the air.... nice profile and easy to keep orientated.
I lost my first one after an elevator pulled free during a flat spin, I had a secondhand one that I had brought for spares so 16 hours later I was back in the air.
Please post feedback or a video after your maiden,
All the best,
-Reuben
