Anyone had experience with the Morris (VQ) Dragonfly ARF? I can barely get it to stay in the air with the supplied geared 400. Changed gears to 2:1 and prop to 8x6 but it just barely flys???

Hi

how much does your plane weight? which battery? and which charger do you use?

I´ve flown a sp400 2:1 8x6 plane, AUW 800g, almost loopable from level flight. good power on 8xKAN950 cells 6-7min flights easy.

sounds like you got a heavy plane or wrong battery/charger

Not sure what it weighs but it's not too heavy. It comes with a speed 400 and MPI gearbox now at 2:1 on 8cell 1000mah Pack. I use the GP Triton charger.

30oz... I think that is the upper limit, but it should still fly.

make sure to charge the battery just before flying.

1000mah, 500AR sized? HE1100 is good, KAN950 even better, there are some ~1000mah closes out there that is´t that good, maybe you got a bad battery pack.

one trick is to charge it (if it is 500AR sized) with 3A and fly right after the charger peaks. battery must be 40-45C if you are to get some performance out of it. this procidure might give you an extra 30% power boost.

hope this helps.

Battery packs look good. I've used them before. Bought a new power system at my LHS today. E-Flight geared 480 with 1.85:1 and 9x5 prop. Will see if that makes any difference.
