Charging with triton
I'm new to electrics and bought a Triton 2 EQ charger. My battery is a turnigy 2650 6s 30C and it takes about a 100 minutes to charge. The charger automatically sets the charge rate of 1C. At this rate I would need a pile of batteries to fly for an afternoon. Is it safe to charge quicker and if so how do I set the machine?

RE: Charging with triton
The pack says never charge above 2C. So to charge at 2C, I should set the mha to 5300 rather than 2650? And of course remain at 22.2V.

RE: Charging with triton
I've been using the Triton 2 EQ for a couple of years with NO PROBLEMS. I have even had senior moments and forgotten that I was charging. No problem with the Triton I'm protected. Anyone ever hear of a Lipo fire while charging with a Triton.

RE: Charging with triton
Guver, you said I will lose the over capacity protection by charging at 2C. Does this mean it will not recognize full capacity and will keep charging after rated mha capacity has been reached. Will I have to manually stop the charge every time?
I haven't had a problem with the triton but as others have stated it takes a lot of time to charge a pack. That last couple hundred mha's seems to take forever.

No, it will still terminate normally with voltage, using that CV routine that you notice takes a long time. The capacity protection is just a "failsafe" or insurance. If you think about it , charging a half full pack no longer has that capacity protection either. To me it doesn't mean a lot.

RE: Charging with triton
I have that charger and was disappointed. Unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't have enough capacity to charge a 6S pack much over 2.5 amps. When charging my 5S packs it will only put out a max of 2.8 Amps, even when set for 4000ma ...4S and 3S packs will charge at 4.0 amps or higher....It you check the watt rating on the charger and do the math, you will find that the Triton2 EQ is somewhat limited. For 3S and 4S packs it pretty good, but 5S and 6S it kindda sux. If you're gonna be using 5S and 6S packs of larger sizes, you'll need a charger with at least 125 watt capacity or bigger....

RE: Charging with triton
Were it me I would bump up the charge by increasing from 2650mah to 2900 or maybe 3000mah. This would decrease the time required, but there comes a point where you are playing with fire.
