PBS NOVA program is looking for UAV hobbyist in DC area
Hello,<o></o>
My name is Frauke Levin. I'm an associate Producer with Pangloss Films, an Emmy-nominated production company in New York City. We are currently working on a PBS NOVA program about UAV technology. Our program will focus on the technology and science behind UAVs, as well as their future development and use.<o></o>
I understand that this site is primarily directed at RC plane hobbyists but was hoping that there are some UAV/drone/FPVenthusiasts among you.
We are looking for a hobbyist in the DC areawho is willing to give us a hands-on demonstration ofhis/her UAV ideally one that can fly with a DSLR camera mounted. We are looking to film you flying your UAV in the DC area, and also to record some of the footage that the UAV is capturing.
We are aiming to film sometime the second half of next week (Weds/Thurs/or Fri). <o></o>
Likely, the filming will take about two hours.<o></o>
If you are interested, please reach out as soon as possible and I can provide more details. <o></o>
I can be contactedat[email protected]<o></o>
<o></o>
Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!<o></o>
Best,<o></o>

PS: Are there any other sites that I should post on? I assume this is the most frequented but any advice is welcome!<o></o>
Maybe, before you start your project you should do some research to understand the nature of our hobby. I suggest that you contact the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Here is a web page to get you started.

I don't have a clue what a recreational FPV aircraft can carry. Nor do know how they are flown. I have never seen anything that you describe at my flying field. But what I have seen was pretty, small, cheap and low quality. Likely, someone somewhere is flying what you describe but I don't think it will be what the guy who started this thread is expecting.
if you want to spend big

Years ago I became involved with a project that was going to air on PBS.
To make a long story short, *their* project was finally scrapped because it wasn't going to project the point of view the producers and PBS wanted to make.
They had come to a group I was affiliated with to get our take on the subject, but it repeatedly was being refined so that it suited the producer and the local PBS channels political point of view.
Best point (?) made that I have seen on this thread was to have the producers on this subject contact our national org, the AMA, and let them handle what we could unintentionally turn into a hot potato.
