Default what size motor and battery

I want to put electric on one of my planes I am completing. WS 48'weight 2 1/2 #s no electronics. Interested in brushless outrunner. Probably purchase at Hobbycity. What size should I get. Sorry about this type of question. I don't really know anything about electric. I fly 4 strokes and gassers.

2.5lb empty = 4lb AUW?... rule of thumb 100W/lb for modest flying, 150W/lb for more spectacular stuff. Decide on the size of prop you want to use, then choose a motor which can easily cope with 400W (or 600W if you go the aerobatic route) and spin that prop to get you enough pitch speed, at less than the motor's amp/watt rating.... . Probably want 4s or 5s at that power level.
