CMP Hellcat Electric Conversion???

Hey..
I'd like to convert my CMPro F6F Hellcat 120 70" to electric..
I had a YS.91 in it, but want to go Electric!!
Any ideas on a good motor, ESC and LiPo combo?
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

RE: CMP Hellcat Electric Conversion???

Mr D ... try the following as a baseline guide:

Motor - anything like a China made 6360 or 6350 210 KV motor, do not exceep 230 KV for that size, 250KV is for 8S, for branded you can check out AXI, Hacker etc
ESC - 90A HV (does not power your RX and servos, you need a batt for that, can use like what you do for GP)
Batt - 10S 5,000 (go 10 because you get more plane choice than 8 and you will want the weight too)
Prop - 18x10 for starters, will give it a more scale appearance too. For EP we go with a bigger prop as the motor has torque and we turn it at a lower RPM, around 6.5K-7K

Happy converting!

RE: CMP Hellcat Electric Conversion???

I had the same plane setup for electric about three years ago and used:

motor: Elfite Power 110
ESC: Caslte 85 HV
Batteries: either 2 x 4S or 4S + 5S in series

The Zippy packs are great. I would get a 4S and 5S 5000 or 5800 mah pack so you get the most power you can with that motor.

I have this same setup on two of my planes. My H9 Taylorcraft will hover on this setup.

You will have to cut a hole throgh the fire wall to slide the battery packs as far foward as possible or add wight to the nose.

RE: CMP Hellcat Electric Conversion???

Thanks for the info!
I'm going with the following setup:
Eflite Power 110 motor
Castle 85HV
2 5c Thunder power 5000 mAH in series.
Thinking of a 18X8 APC.
According to the motor calc: http://www.brantuas.com/ezcalc/dma1.asp
That'll give me 81 motor amps, 2315 Watts, at 8521 RPM, runtime of 7.2 minutes.

A 17X8 gives me 70 motor amps, 2066 Watts, 8853 RPM, runtime of 8.3 minutes

Am I pushing it?

Thanks for the advice!
Dave
