Sky Trainer 182 want to install larger batteries... beginner please help!

Hi,

I recently purchased an airfield sky trainer 182 and I have been through the ringer trying to get it in the air, I bought a new charger and had to change all the connectors to accommodate for the new charger. The one battery I have for the plane is a Lipo 11.1v 1800mah 3 cell with a 1.8 amp charge rate (which with my charger takes 74-90 mins to charge)

My main question is what would it take to change the batteries to a larger capacity for improved flight time and charging time?

Any help and input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have the older version of this plane. Yet there are two of the newer 5 channel planes in our group. We use 2200mah 3s batteries. I have enough now that I get lots of flight time. I also have (4) chargers going when I am at the field.

Here is the battery

All you need is some self stick velcro and you are good to go.

So this plane can run a 2200mah 3s battery with no other modification?

The buzzard gives good advice. I also have an older version of the Airfield Skytrainer. I have been using the Blue Lipo 2200mAh, 11.1. 3S battery for about 9 months. No plane modifications needed - just check the C.G. as the 2200mAh battery is heavier than the 1800mAh.

We have crammed a 2650 in there. I would not recommend that. It makes it heavy. The 2200 give about 10 minutes of flight of mixed throttle. Climb, cruise, glide. I like doing touch and goes with mine. She looks real good in the air.
