Converting to Electric
I am just getting back into the hobby after about 12 yrs. I have noticed that electric is really really popular!!! All I ever was involved with in the past is glow, but I have to admit with the advent of new motors and batteries i think this may be the way to go!!! My question is.....how do I figure out what I need in terms of motor and battery size if I want to make a couple of my planes electric???? Specifically I have a Great Planes Stuka kit in the box (.60-.90), and a Top Flite P40 kit in the box (-60-.90). I am getting my 10 year old son into the hobby and his excitement is thru the roof!!! I think we may want to build these planes but go electric if possible. It just seems less of a mess and much easier. Anyway thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Converting to Electric
I'm "augmenting" my hanger with electrics. Look into what you need to recharge the flight batteries. Figure investing $300 to get the batteries charged for the equivalent power of a $150 glow engine; plus a couple $50 to $60flight batteries. But there are no fuel costs thereafter and presumably the recharging costs less than glow fuel.

RE: Converting to Electric
Well for a 60 2s conversion, a Tacon 60, APC 18X6, to 20X6 prop, 6s 55000mah battery, 60 amp ESC. I have this in two planes right now and they have plenty of power. Now, I am a patient person and use a small charger. It takes about an hour or so to charge the batteries. I just have more batteries so I am charging and flying.
