Need help with EP J3 Electricub

I have Great Planes J3 Electricub with the standard motor/gearbox set up. I was looking to put something else in it to give it just a bit more power. Any suggestions on what to put in this plane?

Couple of things to consider. To increase the performance you would want to go to a brushless set-up using lipo batteries. That would mean removing the gearbox set-up and making or buying a mount to install a brushless motor. Then add an ESC and a lipo battery . then you would need a charger capable of charging a lipo battery.
So the first question would be;do you have any electrics running lipo packs and a charger capable of charging them ?
If so then you would be looking at spending around $60-70.00 on the low side to equip the plane with a new motor, ESC, LiPo battery and accessories. If you needed to buy a charger then add another $30.00 + for a basic "4-button" multi-charger.
I would say something like a 2805 brushless 1300kva (Blue Wonder type)motor, 18 amp ESC, a 11.1v 1300mah LiPo , and a 9X4.75 prop.

If you look down thee is a thread about an elictricub. This is the power system I have and the one I recommended. Runs an APC 12X6 prop and have a lot more power and flight times. If you read the other thread, I laughed about the cleared work bench comments. :)

They are out of stock right now. They come and go fast.

Blvdbuzzard, thanks for the pointer but this is the smaller Electricub - only 41 inch wingspan.

Brian Ray, thanks for the info...I'll poke around with those specs and see what I can come up with.

I saw the electri cub and ran with it.

For something that small. You could go with something like this.
