Battery connectors
What seems to be the preferred type of high volts, high amps battery connector? I thought I would go with Deans (T plug) but tonight I had some problems with them not making contact.

Forget about those, most likely immitations. Go for gold plated 5.5mm + bullets that's what I use in heavy current draw application. In few extreme cases I draw with them up to 240 Amps.

Note that connectors, apart from arcing when connecting them, don't care about voltage, they only care about current. So it can be better for connectors, and your nerves, to get them with anti-(sp)arc built in. Voltage losses (in volt) across a connector go up with current, power losses (in watt, get converted into heat) go up with current squared. On the other hand: "The spark is your friend" (©CastleCreations). No spark means the (extra) input capacitors are dead, and rest of controller will soon follow. Preferably taking plane down with it :( Explanation Too long battery wires will kill ESC over time: precautions solutions workarounds - RCG On the other hand, too big a spark is bad for connectors. Not to mention your nerves. Solution: move the spark to a cheap extra sacrificial connector. The extra/very thin wire will reduce current, no need for resistor, or choose resistor small enough to reduce spark will still visible/audible. Just sold my Giant "C-130 Herc", the last model I was using Deans, never like them after discovering more reliability using gold bullets. Good luck to the new owner.
