FLYING A TAYLORCRAFT
I read Rob's and others' stories about J3 Cubs. How they take off so easily, but do not try it crosswind.
I've also read the comments that electrics fly on the wing, and glow power flies on the prop. Does a Taylorcraft fly "light" and slow? Does it need a lot of rudder? Mine is a 54" Built up, monocote covered model. Weight is 22 oz. I think that is light, and would not try to fly it in much of a breeze at all. I've no flown it yet. It has a geared 400 motor and 9" 3-blade prop. It is OLD. I built it about 25 years ago for 1/2 A freeflight, and converted it in 2002 to electric RC. It still has not flown as ANYTHING! |
