RE: Help!!! need BEC help
Ok, but BEC means Battery Eliminator Circuit so that is only to get 5V the drive your receiver and servos.

T Smith,
It often takes more than an hour for the right person to come along with the answer to your question. Sometimes it can take days. Please don't "bump" your post because it hasn't been answered in ~56 minutes. Think of the mess if everyone did that... YIKES! :O Nearly all electronic speed controls (ESCs) come with a battery eliminator circuit (BEC) built in. The BEC taps off your main battery to power the receiver and servos. BECs work well for up to 10 NiCd/NiMH cells, or up to 3 LiPoly cells. Beyond that, the voltage difference is too much for the tiny chip; it would overheat and burn up the entire speed control trying to regulate 5V to run the receiver and speed control. If you have a plane with more than 10 NiCd/NiMH cells or 3 LiPoly cells, you first need to make sure your ESC can handle that many cells (4 LiPoly is about equal to 13 NiCd/NiMH cells), then you need to disable the BEC according to the instructions that come along with the speed control. Use a separate receiver battery, just like you would with a glow-powered airplane. |
