Help! FMA M5 receiver problems

I have 3 FMA M5 receivers, and have had problems with two of them. I'm using a Hitec Eclipse 7 transmitter (without the variable frequency module). I'm not getting very good range with two of the three receivers. I've tried new crystals in the receivers and I've tried an after-market antenna on one of the receivers. Even still, I lose control completely sporadically and have crashed once due to it. Is it possible that my transmitter crystal is damaged? Am I doing something wrong? I have 3 single conversion receivers (GWS, Hitec) and have had great results with them (of course their range is lower). Any ideas? I follow all antenna and receiver placement recommendations.

Lynn,

That is odd since the M5 is a "full strength" dual conversion receiver. I have 2 of them and haven't seen any problems with my Futaba Super 8 transmitter.

Perhaps the planes that you had the M5 receiver in had noise from the power system. Since you had issues with 2 of the M5 receivers, I can see why you may question the transmitter.

Both companys, FMA Direct and Hitec, will take their products back for a re-calibration or testing. You may want to consider this during the Winter months.

Another idea is to have a friend try an M5 on his transmitter. This may help you to decide which component is giving you problems.

Good luck!

P.S. I'm moving this thread to the General forum.

I think Greg is on the right track, motor noise or equivalent. Your transmitter works fine with the single conversion receivers I would think it is OK. Double check the capacitors and diode (if any) on your motor did you follow the mfgrs recommendations exactly? Is a capacitor chipped or cracked? I hope you have short leads from your ESC to the motor.

I am a newbe with electric flying but a very oldbe with electronics. Good luck
