First Time Electric
Hello,
I've been out of RC for about 3 years and just bought a hobby hangar edge 540 (.049-.10 size) I would like to convert it to electric. This will be my first electric model and I'm looking for suggestions on motors, PSRU's, even recievers and servos... this is also my first little model. The plans say that it is 19-24 oz. 2-4 channel, I'd like to do a 4 channel with enough low speed thrust to do aerobatics close in and low speed. Oh, It's also on a bit of a budget, my full size pitts sucks most of the spare cash right up. Thanks for any tips... I'm an electric newbie. Ty |
RE: First Time Electric
Do a search on Endoplasma. Gary Wright, a super electric 3D pilot developed a system using a $20 car motor (Endoplasm) and a $13 GP gear box with a big prop that works wonders.

RE: First Time Electric
go brushless and check out mega motors

RE: First Time Electric
I think the endoplasma is way overkill on this plane, the motor and batteries themselves will weigh more than what the AUW should be.
I think a speed 400 geared 3:1 spinning a 10x7 prop or equivalent brushless would work well. Along with an 8cell KAN 650 or 1050 pack, some GWS Picco servos, and Berg4 or 5 rx should give you what you're looking for. Just keep in mind that you want to keep the weight down, using something like So-lite to cover instead of Monokote will save you an ounce or 2. Jason |

Yes Jason, Your correct. The Endoplasma system is too much. I had my brain out of gear.
