setting up thrust angle
It has been a while and I am not very experienced with building to begin with- I need to set the thrust angle on my Wattage Mad Max. Under hard throttle, it wants to climb straight up until it stalls unles sI hold some down elevator. If I cruise at a steady speed, keep it level and cut the motor, it dives. So the motor is pulling it up. To compensate- do I point the prop down some or up some? I have triple checked the balancing and it is dead on, so I am assuming it is a thrust issue. Thanks.

add down thrust

RE: setting up thrust angle
I am having the same problem on my wattage sopwith camel... Another owner of the same plane told me to point the motor and gearbox down a bit and that would solve the problem. Havnt tried it yet so let me know how it works... :) Would it be possible to trim the elevator down a bit instead of adding down thrust?

RE: setting up thrust angle
Try setting 2 degrees down thrust and trim the plane for straight and level at 1/2-2/3 throttle. This should reduce the rate of climb. It's not unusual for high powered planes to climb under full throttle when properly trimmed.

climb straight up into a stall though :)? If so, I will leave it as is. Thanks for the input.
