Hobbyzone Sonic Combat Module questions
Hello All
Been reading up on this device a bit and am really getting interested in getting a couple to try out, but there are a few things I can't seem to get a solid answer on that I hope someone here can help me out with. First, which planes are these devices compatible with?? On one webpage I read that they could be used with any Hobbyzone plane, but the only planes that mention using them are the Firebird Commander and the Fighterbird (which I also read is no longer in production) Can the SCM be used on the Hobbyzone Aerobird and Stryker model planes?? Second, how well do they work?? Are they better than the infra-red set-ups?? Are they worth the money or are they more of a "gimmick" device that i'll use once then end up shoving in my closet?? Does anyone know if there are competitions held with these things?? I've never seen one at the local R/C clubs airfield, but then I haven't asked about them either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Scott |
RE: Hobbyzone Sonic Combat Module questions
Hi Scott,
Go read my thread in the parkflyers forum on the two Aerobird X-tremes that I am reviewing along with the Aerial Drop and Combat Modules. It contains some details now and will be updated again soon as we continue testing. The reason for a sonic sensor is because infra-red sensors don't work well in sunlight. The Sonic Combat Module can be used on ANY HobbyZone plane that has an X-port. We were delightfully surprised at just how much fun these modules were and also how well they worked. |
