CD-AC conversion
 

To prevent the purchase of a new charger, I was wondering if there is a way to convert AC outlet power to DC so that I can hook my car charger up to it. I was looking in Radio Shack but couldn't find anything. Anyone know of any way to do this? I'm getting tired of constantly running out to my car to charge my battery.

What you are in the market for is a "12 Volt Power Supply." Radio Shack carries them, and in fact last I checked, they were selling their 10 Amp model at closeout price.

You'll probably get a bit of "sticker shock" when you see what they cost. I think the closeout price on the 10 Amp model is $59.99, and the 3 Amp version normally sells for $39.99. However, you do get a quality bench power supply that provides clean power to your charger, which is what you want. You won't regret the purchase, because it allows you to use the higher-end chargers in your house rather than having to run to the car every time you want to charge.

Is there a special connector that I can get to enable me to plug the charger directly into the converter?

Nothing special about the connector. True bench power supplies, like the ones Radio Shack sells, come with standard "banana" jacks. These are the exact same connectors you probably had to put on your charge leads to plug them into the charger.
