Back-up receiver battery
I once test run a 500 size motor on a 30A ESC unit. Probably due to overload, the ESC blew up. Well, it kinds of melts. Thereafter te prop spins at full speed whereas all signal/power to the servos were lost.
Luckily this happens on the ground, otherwise the plane would be a total lost (it is balsa). This get me to think of a backup battery pack for the servos, in the event that that ESC blew up in the air. Has anyone try this - like putting an additional 4 pack AAA or AA battery direct to the receiver on a separate channel? Chris |
Back-up receiver battery
The point of the BEC is so you don't have to haul around a dedicated receiver pack. If you're going to install a dedicated receiver pack for "backup", you may as well disable or disconnect the BEC, and eliminate the BEC as a potential cause of loss of control completely.
