JETI speed controller
I've just bought my first electric and am having a little trouble with the JETI speed controller.
I've connected power and a motor to the speed controller but it just beeps when I turn the radio on. The motor does not turn. Any ideas on why this might be? |

Which Jeti, what battery, what motor ? Is the battery fully charged ? Have you connected it to the receiver ? In the throttle channel ? Does a servo work when connected to the same channel ? Is the throttle at zero when you switch on ? What radio are you using ? Futaba radios usually need to have the throttle reversed.
It often helps if you provide a little more information. Steve |

The controller is a JES25 I think. It is connected up as I would expect. (fully charged) battery connected to the SC, outputs connected to a speed 400 motor and the flying lead connected to the (JR I hope) 4 channel receiver.
I didn't give too much info as I was guessing that the beeping would be due to a well known problem (e.g. low battery or something. I was a little surprised that the instruction with the controller did not cover this. I was also disappointed that the JETI website didn't have much info on it. I'm guessing that I am doing something fundamentally wrong. I have a feeling that I was connecting power and then turning the radio on. Should the radio be on before power is turned on to the JES? |

Oh and connecting the servo to the receiver is a splendid idea. Thanks. I'll try that first to rule out a dodgy receiver.
I'm very new to the wonderful world of R/C and so have not quite worked out to debug this stuff. It's great fun so far though. |

1 beep means all is ok & ready to go.. A string of beeps mean your throttle is wide open . reverse the throttle stick if you can if not push throttle all the way up & see if you get one beep. be sure the throttle trim is not set in the middle . All this should be with full battery & transmitter turned on then turn plane power on. It is setting the throttle range auto.

OK the problem was with the receiver. I have a tiny GWS 4 channel one that has 4 connections marked 1, 2, 3 and 4B. I had connected the lead from the speed controller to 4B. This was giving the ESC control on the rudder channel. The beeping was due to me turning the controller on with the rudder in the middle, neutral position.
So I moved the SC lead to the 1 connector. Everything now works fine. I'm a little concerned that I may be doing a bad thing though. Does anyone know what the B denotes on the 4B? Is there anythin wrong with me connecting the power input to one of the other connectors? |
JETI speed controller
B is for battery.
The power can be plugged in to any open slot on a receiver. |
JETI speed controller
That is a little confusing. What is special about that connector if you can plug the battery in any place?
Anyway, thanks, I'm glad that I'm not in danger of blowing the receiver by plugging the battery into chan 1. |
JETI speed controller
There is nothing special about the connector.
All receivers that I have seen have all of the servo connectors on a common power bus. |

Thanks.
