Help in finding the correct motor choice

All,

I am a newbie to E-Flight. I have acquired a model of a P-51 that I purchased at a swap meet. The plane had a small 2-4 oz fuel tank and a small engine mount. Looks like about a .19 size. The fuselage is 27 inches and the wing is 35 inches.
I don’t know the weight but it’s pretty light, Balsa and monokote type covering.

It has elevator and aileron controls. I would like to go electric but have NO idea what size motor to start with. I’m an experience pilot so I can handle some speed.
I would also like to use an ESC? and LIPO’s.

Can you guys suggest a good starting point? Web sites to look at motors, maybe a package deal. Is there some kind of chart as a guide?
I’ve done some searching here but to be honest theres soooo much to sift through.

Thanks

Using a lipo you are probably going to want to go brushless. I have not ventured into the brushless realm as of yet, you will also need a brushless ESC if you go that way.

check out this link, they have just about everything. I would imagine you want to go with something that is equivalent to a 480 or 540 brushed motor??

the hacker A30-28S would be a perfect match from what you have described, also you can buy it as a combo with a great controller like the Castle creations phoenix 35, the combo is at a great discount when you buy them together at this site; ($129.99)

i bought my last combo from them, they are great.

also i would get a thunder power 3-cell 1320 lipo (usually around $50 or so)

the combo i listed above will give you a light weight, but very powerful plane. it should be able to climb straight up if you want it to.
