Skyfly Flight
Well i had my first flight today....many crashes and a few ok flights....hand toss flights!
Dam plane would ALWAYS go RIGHT...tried trim left...no go...hard to get lift also....5 to 7 mile winds! thing takes a beating...whats the best tape to use for wing repairs? took a funny video but dont know how to post a vid...dam newb!! well battery charging....mite make another trip to the field tonite...probley just lick my wounds and try this weekend! PEACE! |
RE: Skyfly Flight
The skyfly wing is very weak. If it is already cracked, you can try some gorilla glue and use some 3M extreme packing tape to re-enforce the cracked area and also underneath the wing along its span. Don't use regular CA glue if CA is your adhesive of choice. It will attack the foam in that wing big time. The Skyfly tends to be sensitive to wing tip stalling as far as I remember. Site down from the front of the plane and make sure the stabilizer and rudder look striaght.

Well i patched her up and recharged da battery....off to the field for round 2 !.....1 GREAT flight with zero wind and a few flybys..THEN...it got a bit away from me..thought i could bring her hard left ....should have went right.... the BIGGEST tree in the PARK gobble her up....She sits on the top branch!....dam i had a few peeps watchin in awe as did many circles around a few soccer fields....now my gut churns as she sits alone in that branch.....i was so stoked...she was flyin like a charm....dam pilot error....oh well...i hope we get a wind storm or hard rain...... [:o]
man i feel LOST.....OH WELL....nothin a bottle of JAGER won't solve...... sniff R.I.P http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...eth/skyfly.jpg |
RE: Skyfly Flight
Try taking a tennis ball cut a small hole in it. Then take some string (the stronger the better) make a large knot and stuff it into the slit in the ball. Now you can throw the ball up into the tree. Try snagging a branch close by or part of the plane. I've used this method many time and it worked for me. But, I must admit that each succeding flight that (*&%$ magnetic tree grew stronger. That was one of the reasons I joined my local RC club!

RE: Skyfly Flight
is that a hobbico flyzone kit? if it is i would start looking at a new plane, i am not impressed with flyzone at all, i had bought a few of their planes before, arfs, none of their speed controllers ever works and they were always poor control when i did get about 1 minute of extremely low speed low altitude stall filled flights. funny story, first one that the speed controller was bad, i sent back to get serviced, they put in a new speed controller and it was worse. if you are having trouble getting that one to work, i would just get a refund and not bother with them anymore. if you DO get it to work i would test to see how long its prop can stay turning, if it even gets a 2 or 3 minute flight time, that will probably wear down to no time at all fast. and boy, i know that type of wing, they are very hard to keep in one peice, i suggest getting your money back and looking for a better electric. sorry if i am ranting, just trying to give my veiw of flyzone.
