Indoor help needed
 

I have ust moved from San Antonio to Columbus, IN. Not much outdoor flying going on here, at this time. The president of the local club fly in the Lutheran Church Gym (small). So far, the only plane, which has succesfully flown is the Little Cessna from parkzone. I had the Airhog Bipe, but would not really call that flying. There were some "Bug"s, but I was hoping for something that looked like an airplane.

I have several radios, including the original Spectrum 6-channel.

What are some suggestions for planes to fly in a small gym?

Bill Stevens makes a range of cute little planes for indoor nights - my pick is the diddle rod - cheap(ish).

Make sure you buy a light battery for her and if you can get some 3-4 g servos - every gram counts... you might even like to try using laminating material to cover the wing to save a couple more grams.

Several of these planes would not be allowed at the 3 places I fly indoors at. At one school gym they only allow 6oz or less and the other gym and the dome I go to allow 8oz max. weight. I fly a Parkzone Cessna and several of the small Stevens planes that weigh about 3oz. So you better find out what you are allowed.

I ahve not done a lot of indoor flying so I had not see restrictions of that nature. Thanks for sharing the information. Do you belive these weight guidelines to be common for indoor flying?

I don't know if they are common or not because they are the only places where I fly indoors. The schools and the Dome are in 3 different towns. The one I fly in most is about 4 miles from my home here in Rockford, the Dome is in a town about 15 miles away and the other gym is in a town about 35 miles away from me.

The town 35 miles from me flies every Wed. evening from 8pm to 10pm in their high school gym. They weigh every plane to be sure nobody cheats on the weight. The Dome only flies one Saturday evening/month and the local Christian High School gym has flying every Saturday evening except when the Dome is flying.

StevensAero indoor planes have flying weights of around 4oz.

Fancyfoam.com , The xcalibur is a biplane that weighs 6.5 ounces with battery and fly's nice and slow. On low rates it's docile. Just make sure you practice your rudder control, very neccesary in indoor flying.

Thanks, guys. I bought the Pico Tiger Moth, as i have a LiPo compatible ESC for the can motor. Also wing loading.

There are no restrrictions here. Just have to be able to fly insided the walls. Several have tried their old stuff and failed. Slow Stick, even Pico Stick, but i think it would have worked with different prop and smaller batteries.

Am looking at the e-flite SE-5. Lower wing loading than the TM. Just MORE MONEY.
