Control problem, Please help

I have a T-Hawk with a 3 Channel FM transmitter. It has the motor control on a slider on the back of the unit.

I can get rudder and elevator control using the transmitter but not motor control. Batteries have been charged and changed and checked over and over. I ran power directly to the motor and it spins free. I switched the servo connections on the receiver and was able to get the motor to work using either the elevator or rudder control on the stick so I'm thinking the speed controller is also fine.

I'm thinking the receiver may have gone bad? This thing has been sitting for a couple years and if I remember right it was working fine when I stored it.

The antenna was replaced with another one from a different transmitter but I don't see how that could be causing the loss of motor control.

Can a receiver just go bad over time? Thinking about stopping in HobbyTown and seeing if I can buy a replacement receiver...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Couple pics of what I'm working with...

Perhaps the slider control on the transmitter is the problem. Try plugging in the elevator or rudder servo into channel 3 (motor control) on the receiver and see if you can control them via the slider. I don't think it's likely that only one channel in the receiver would be faulty. Also, if you can reverse your servos, try reversing channel 3. I had to do this with my Futaba gear to enable motor control. Good luck with your trouble shooting.

Good call whitecrest!

I had tried that and it wouldn't control any other functions but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to.

So, I pulled the transmitter apart and found the red wire from the slider had some how came off the main board. Once I found the the correct solder point I resoldered it and everything works perfect.

No idea how that wire could come loose inside the box? Weird. Good news is, I can fly my T-Hawk again and I think I'm going to keep my Hanger 9 P51 Mustang now that I have something to practice with again.

Would have saved a lot of headaches had I just pulled that transmitter apart in the first place[:@]

Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

Excellent! Thanks for the update. Probably a marginal connection during manufacture. Enjoy your future flights!
