Ebay Electric Planes

Hello all,

Ihave a very ambiguous question. What are planes from ebay like?

Inoticed there are a bunch of models that look good, are cheap and have videos to go with them of the models flying nicely. Has anyone got any experience with these 'no-name' models?

Iknow that with rc cars, it is generally a bad idea to go with no-namers as they have bad control...etc, is it the same with planes? I'd imagine the electronics inside would not be that crash hot, but the frame itself Iwonder how they would go.

This question is not about an individual model, but all of the no name ebay ones. Any input would be great.

Thanks!

The cheep ones are mostly seconds. Wrong hardware, bad hardware, missing instructions, and things that don't fit. They can be fun and fly well if you're a builder, but don't expect them to go together easy or have good instructions.

I just got done putting together some trainers (Aeromax ARF's, 68" WS) I got for under $100 with shipping. Canopies didn't fit, the hardware went into the junk bin and they were tail heavy. However, basic construction is solid and they fly just fine.

Also keep in mind that the pilots in the videos are experts. They could even fly a brick if asked to do so.

I think if I were after a cheap plane, I'd be more apt to get one from hobbyking, one for which I could read honest user reviews.

Even the reviews on Hobby King have to be taken with a grain of salt. They (HK) only allow the best of the reviews to stay on their site.

Not So! If you spend a little time on the site, you will find lots of "negetive" comments and reviews. I have seen a couple motors with no good comments at all. Just 1 example: http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8927&Product_Name=BM-6_Cell_Voltage_Monitor_2-6S_Lipo_(New_Version)

Exactly, they get so many reviews, they don't edit them out.

Now if you state things that are false about the product or company, or swear, of course it will get deleted.
