Strange buzzing of servos when starting up

When I first connect my battery on my Electrostik, the aileron servos, HS-81 servos, buzz like the dickens. The minute I give the
slightest deflection of the aileron stick, the buzzing stops. It does not occur for the rest of the flight. I had replaced the original ES80 servos because they stripped after a few flights. I do not recall the ES80 servos buzzing when I first fired up the battery. It seems like only the HS81 servos do this. I have no problems during the flight. Strange!

Pretty much normal for the HS81's to do so. But just to be on the safe side, check to be sure the linkages are straight and not binding, ditto the control surfaces.

Hitec is notorious for buzzing servos. If I followed the standard of the old days (70's) nine out of ten Hitec servos would be returned.

Also your Transmitter might be to near to the plane when you first start up. It's called radio noise. Does it go away when you move the transmitter a little distance away?

I will check this out next time I go out. The two servos are used on ailerons, and the minute I move the aileron stick, the buzzing stops and never recurrs for the remainder of the flight. The elevator and rudder servos do not react that way The HS-81 servos were installed to replace ES-80 servos which did not buzz in this manner (they were replaced because of stripped gears).
Thanks, and I will check this out.

Many Hitec servos buzz on start up and some all the time. In the old days (sigh) that was a bad sign, but today, at least with Hitec, it's nothing. Go ahead and fly them.

I must admit, it still drives me crazy, but I guess that's "progrss".

I have about 50 of the 55s and never a sound.

To cyclops2:

The servos I am using are the HS 81s, not 55s.

To Jerry L:

The buzzing occurs no matter how far or near the transmitter is to the plane, when the plane is plugged in (Remember, this is an Electrostik model).

The minute I give a control to the ailerons, the buzzing stops. Go Figure. I guess I will just have to live with it.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.
