Moths

Hi folks,

First post on this RCU forum - "Hi, my name is Mike and I am a model airplane-aholic.."

I've done some of the usual poking around, but am throwing this question out to the network for suggestions -

What is out there for half-decent Tiger Moth ARFs? I am looking for something perhaps a hair larger than - as an example - the foamie GWS 400 Moth at 37.5", maybe in the 40"-45" span range (but open to suggestions). Sport scale is fine, and hoping to keep the power system in the parkie regime, i.e. max 3s 2100 pack, 250W or less, those sort of round numbers.

I've done a bit of Googling, but figured there might be some possiblities tucked away I did not see.

Thanks,

MJD

Well, the hope was to go one-up from foam and Depron, such as a smallish built up ARF. I found one yesterday aft that I have yet to investigate further, at http://www.eastrc.org/estoretiger.htm. I'll call them today.

It calls itself a kit but says it comes in RAF or civvie color schemes, so that says ARF to me. That's the sort of thing I was looking for. This is destined to become part of the "office fleet" of parkies we have for 15 minute R&R break hijinks. I let my buddy fly the GWS foam Moth the other evening and he decided he needs a Moth "now". Mine's airbrushed up in RCAF camo (see link below) and accidentally became overpowered with the one spare outrunner I had, and is actually kind of fun. Rolling circles are not ordinarily part of a Moth's repertoire but it can be yanked around fairly aggressively. It actually flies quite well and looks good from far, and far from good. Big fun to me is flying circuits at minimal power settings and slipping it in - I get to fly the real one now and then so it's easy to imagine being in the cockpit. Looks good - it seems to be the same model as the one from EastRC. This is the only built-up small Moth that has showed up so far, and is probably the way I'll go. Thanks!
