Power

Just want some feedback on whether an E Flite power 60 would do the job. I'm guessing right now, the estimated flight weight will be around 8 lbs.. has 650 sq. inches of wing ( Velox 58" ) am going to use a sportbec from dimension engineering to keep 6v of power to the receiver and digital servos.

Just curious what motor, esc, and lipo battery setup, is best suited for this plane.
Yes, this is my first build. will fly it with a instructor,, and buddy box.Just want to build it right . any input will help.

Welcome to the forum!

That should be a good motor for your plane, even if you are planning for 3D performance. You'll need a 5S-7S lipo around 4000mAh to provide up to a 40 amp continuous draw and a 60-amp ESC. According to the specs, an 8-lb. plane is right in the middle of it's recommended range.

Thanks for the info, Tim. the battery info was really giving me problems. I was really drowning in battery infomationhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/47_47.gif. So a 4000mah 6s 22.2v 30C Lipo, should work.

That should work well. A conservative 10C draw (@40 amps) at 22.2 volts would provide nearly 900 watts. Evidently, according to some specs I read, your plane will weigh closer to 6 lbs., so that is plenty of power, and your motor will be just coasting. You have a lot of flexibility, and your final setup will be dictated by your desired flight performance.
