I will keep fooling with it but mine has a serious back left drift. It is not at all into hovering. I am doing a modified RADD system to get the feel for it. I will switch to the outdoor blades for outdoor practice.

they won't hover perfectly solid, as they will need a small amount of stick input at all times

this is my favorite RC right now

My DX7 battery is in rebuild mode
, but I will try to fly in a contained area shortly. I do feel like I have to lean on the sticks to make the heli behave. That may well be a combination of indoor blades and expo.

give it a whirl man, these little buggers do need stick inputs to make them stay in one place..

they will not lock in one spot and hover

Radio is fine. I am doing a thorough cycling of the Nimh battery. I have never done one in 2 years of ownership. Should be done soon.
I will keep working on it. I am already much farther along than I have gotten with the Rex.

It is something in the radio. Memory 8 is stuck in bind mode. I sent out a mail to HH. Hopefully this is something fairly simply reset. Back to official heli training. I have reduced the expo. I fly my mSR with no expo at all. So flying it is almost movement free. HMM, most of my planes are fairly 3D and I am used to a little being a lot.
Off to try my new theory
Tim
So ends the heli practice on the mSR for the next3 days at least. The lg broke, and no LHS.

I fixed the TX. I also glued up the lg. Well, the TX is a long term thing
Seriously, I think the heli will need to get squared away outside. I flew the mSR in the test arena and managed to get myself in trouble.

I read about this trick somewhere.., any way I got some shrinktube and put it over the tail motor. I did it with the mSR first. No CG changes noticed, so I did it to the mCPX. The goal is to ensure that a hard whack doesn't pop the back of the motor out.
I have to do some inspections. The blade grips have lots of play[
] And of course they not available[>:]. But for a need to fly CP helis, I would have a Beast right now[X(]

Yes I have a "B" and a "2". I went ahead and pulled the feathering shaft out, The shaft is straight and everything tightened up. If someone markets that shaft with socket head(allen wrench) on the slot side I will be a happy man. They went back together nice and tight
. The funny part is that I am close when I go outside with the heli. I had deleterious things to say about the mSR at first as well. Now I fly it on the fast pegs with no expo at all, and have it programmed into my DX7 as a heli. Weirdly that was useful in smo0thing out the heli
. Hopefully the new LG will be here tomorrow.
Have you tried the outdoor blades? I read that they and a nice outdoor setting are useful for getting the hang of this heli.

Wait, what did the "B" mean? I am guessing they are the updated grips.

I did some mCPX flying tonight, or trying to fly. I know that the prescribed curve for lift off has a value of 55-60%. I set stunt 2 to 60-65% throttle. I figure I can trim into a hover, and go on from there. I had huge reverse and some sideways action. More throttle more reverse Perhaps some sub-trim work is called for.
This is how I figured out the mSR. One setting at a time

I pulled my blades and found them out of balance. I balanced the old ones, but put new ones on. I want to limit as many variables as possible.

So, I was working with the heli. And there was a touch of wind. And the thing failed again. And actually broke some linkage.
But I did not think the breeze was that bad. So I left a broken mCPX on the pad and launched my mSR. I did play with the trim, but I did not engage the more responsive throttle trims.
Yep, here's the video

SRT, here is how I balanced my blades. This is based on the same principle that I use to balance props and the big heli blades. For the mCPX I used a piece of 2mm CF rod, 2 bits of air retract hose and 2 beer cans. The CF rod will fit the bolt holes in the blades. Put one piece of hose on the rod about halfway. Slide your blades on so that they are in a flight config (Blade text on the same side) slide the other bit of hose onto the rod until it is in contact with the blades. You should now have the blades held tightly together and opposite of each other.
Now using your 2 open cans pop the flip top straight up. Put the rod in the slot . You should now have the rod even and have little resistance. give the blades a gentle spin. the blades that ends up on the bottom is heavier than the one on top. I use little bits of scotch tape to add a little weight, and then spin and adjust as necessary.
As for what broke, one of the blade grip dog bones broke, and it spun the main gear again. I have lots of the dog bones and I drilled a 1mm hole through the shaft and gear and pinned the gear in place. I will be ordering a new shaft and gear, but this should keep me flying.
