Help my moter died. I think its a 180 or maybe a 280. It says Johnson on it 11 tooth pinion gear. Ruffly 3/4 x 1 3/8 x a half round 1/2 inch. Something like this on profile (_) face on. They dont make this kit anymore it sure is a crowd pleaser.

Hi, Lab.

Its a 280 w a 10.5" prop, as this article says. GWS has several comparable motor/gear drives. They have this category covered nicely. A geared brushless motor- or a teeny outrunner for simplicity, using lithium poly cells would be lighter still! It flies like dust already!

I wore out my redrive- or it ate itself is more like it- and flew that plane for yrs after a change to a Olympus geared speed 300. I loved to see it flex when I flew it high in microturbulence. It's a great ship- don't give up on 'er.

I like my slowflyers to fly SLOW. This one always could nicely and is great for buddybox training with its mellow ways. After I replaced the downframe with carbon tubes, and that awful hairthin wire axle- the fragile lg problem went away.

There is also a wood framed single surface slowflyer similar to Msr Bleriot's, a Skooter or something, that is also as large area'd and light.

The foam gets fatigued. I had kevlar thread 'wirebracing' on my tailfeathers to ease the flapping and retain control when it got rough- like when it picked up to a 1.5 mph wind!
