This doesn't really have to do with the plane, but why did you say that unneeded remark about Internet Explorer uses? I actually took a little offense at that. You should be insulting the network, not the network users.

Plane made out of foam plates and a cola straw reinforced with
balsa strips. Clay used for weight.
Wingspan = 10", length = 7", and weighs 3.4 grams.
Glides real smoooth!

I put the measurements into the canard calculator and got 25.4 sq inches
wing area with the CG at 3.45"
Canard area 3.5 sq inches.
I was showing off the plane to the little kid next door and the wind lifted
it up onto the roof. Got a ladder and pole and fished it down. Latter my
son landed it in his lil pool. Still flying it.
I'll see if I can draw up some plans for it.
Might just stick an AA motor on it with a small NiCad and let her loose.

This plane was designed to test the flight characteristics of the
canard type aircraft. To put the AA guts in this you would
have to beef it up a bit.
Especially the fuselage.
I'm working on another one simular to this to try just that. It
does glide nice even without the clay weight.

Is there no end to what you can do with the AA guts?
Now all you wizz builders come up with a stealth F 117 for me to make.

An F 117 eh? hmmm.......
Fooling around with this odd plate foamie lately. Took it to work and
flew it around the parking lot. They all looked at me like I was nutz.
But then it flew sooo nice and that confirmed it. I'm nutz! I fly foam plates!

Right on! I've been a Whitewings follower for 10yrs , these things fly so darn well that an RC conversion is only natural. Gonna have to attempt one myself now. Let you know
how it works out. Thanks.

Hey monster, I only seem to get the error message from RCU, it says I'm timed out, when I use quick reply. But I got the error message several times, and, like you, I just put a short message up. Tim

RE: white wings paper glider converted to rc!
UAV pilot, If spinmaster beefed up the transistors to Mega-bytes mosfets and offered the rx and four motors and four spare props and a battery, I'm assuming the rx is set up to be a solder free hook up, I'd pay more for that than I'd pay for an AA. The only hang up would be channel selection. The rx would need to be channel specific. In other words, spinmaster could bring out a "pro line" series of products. RX's, tx's, motors, props, mod kits, plans, various parts. This line of product would lend itself to hardcore AA flyers, as in those in these forums, but also move into the model aircraft world. The plantraco sets cost $400. If Silverlit allowed spinmaster to do this they would dominate the market. I would seriously consider buying an AA rx that is modularized that I could put on a project plane, and use my AA tx to fly. Sell the rx, battery, motors, mounts, props et.c. I"d go $40. for that. RE: white wings paper glider converted to rc!
Sweet idea. I just now tried it with another Whitewings Aero Ace model. Worked awesome first try. It flys really fast and climbs like a maniac! I mean, it's up in the air and a hundred feet up in seconds, then diving down and swooping by at high speeds. What a thrill! I'm going to try the manilla folder idea too, since I've crashed a few times. I will say that paper and balsa flying at 20MPH isn't as durable as EPP at 2MPH. Still flys like a champ, but I'm excited to build another model, so off I go!
I have lots of pictures, but I don't know how to post them here. Any help?

A new box will open up and at the bottom left corner it will say "Click here to upload images and files", the rest is easy.

I was in a Target store in Indiana last week and saw a toy r/c plane that came with transmitter, and flight pack consisting batt, rec, and two motors. The flight pack could be attached to the "white wings-looking" craft. Anyone else seen it? You could stick the flight pack on anything. What did the parts in this thread come from?

RE: white wings paper glider converted to rc!
Mr Mahoney,
i think most of the paper planes that were converted to electric in this thread were done with the AeroAce electronics. the SkyForce electronics are similar, but compared to the AA their a bit sub par (apparently Airhogs/Spinmaster has a patent on using a microcontroller on the RX, so they've got something of an electronic advantage).
i started a thread on the skyforce planes, although i was not in the best of moods when i started the thread and gave my account of them, a lot of folks seem to like them. here's the thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5203510/tm.htm over on RCG there's a pretty big thread on them too.
i couldnt help but notice your avatar, since i just finished this little GeeBee today. i dont know if it flys yet, too much snow and wind for a maiden, but either way i think it looks pretty cool for a simple profile job.
