Small Bi-plane
Hey everyone,
I need help finding a plane.
I am looking for a small bi-plane. Something less than 25" even as small as the Parzone Cessna 210.
It has to be at least 3 channels and can be flown in the same area as say the PZ Cessna 210, I don't want any 2 channel crap.
I don't really want a kit either, but if it has to be a kit, I will consider it.
I thought I read about a Micro tiger-moth that was coming out, but I haven't seen it yet.
Thanks for any ideas.
I am also going to ask this in the "park and backyard flyers forum to see what ideas I get from there. Even though alot of the same guys will see both post.

RE: Small Bi-plane
Hi, I know of one 25" biplane called the "tiger", and it is available through www.icare-rc.com. It is an EPP foam kit with four major pieces plus some small parts and linkages.
It would require miniature or sub-micro RC gear, and that is available through www.skyhooks.ca and www.microflight.com.
An alternative, although requiring building with balsa, would be to get a 20" or 24" free flight (rubber powered) kit and converting it to RC electric, which is not all that difficult to do. there are many good manufacturers of these kits, including Dare, Dumas an Guillow to name a few.

RE: Small Bi-plane
Thanks, But my original post said "Less than 25" wing span didn't it?
So, for now I have converted my PZ Citabria into a bi-plane.
Here she is. Flies great by the way. Here is a vid

Gerald I forgot about the Pico moth. And if you ask some of the guys you might find out why. It has a fuse but would be a bit of a kit. It is also a 3 ch plane. I built mine using the wrong servos way to heavy.

Wheelnut - why don't you pattern a favorite bipe design, scale it down a smidge, and fabricate using Dow BLUECOR foam(Georgia Pacific BlueCor with the skin = 0.75 Oz/SqFt).
This makes a durable easy to repair craft, and provides stable flight charateristics. Given the the number of posts you've amassed, I am sure you've seen some dandy designs from which to start.
Hope that helps.

One reason, I'm not a builder and do not aspire to be one.
I can barely find the time to mod and fly, much less build. Plus I don't have the money to be wasting on the learning curve.
But thanks for the suggestion.
BTW, I am very happy with my Citabria bipe.

Hey Wheelnut, a while ago Silverlit/X-Twins released a little 2 channel Sopwith Camel that might suit your needs. I believe its powered with the same guts as the UBI or SWP (throttle/rudder control). Not sure if they're in the states yet (probably not), but it may be something worth looking at. Sopwith Camel

Thanks very much.
I will hold off for now. If PZ doesn't have a micro scale BNF biplane out by next spring, I will get the cub and just stick with my PZ Citbria converson

RE: Small Bi-plane
This already has more power. You didn't enlarge the picture did yoiu?
I have an upgrade motor and carbon fiber prop from BSDmicrorc.com It has about 35% more power than stock. I have also performed the same upgrade to my Cessna

Has anybody seen or flown the Kyosho (Minium) micro Christen Eagle biplane? I see them occasionally on ebay.

RE: Small Bi-plane
There is the flyzone Albatross DV now that would seem to fit the original request... I also think it is strange that this niche was not filled faster... Scale golden age aircraft are definitely cool.

Hey Wingnut,
Have you found a non-flat micro biplane yet? Have you seen this?
