I have the bnf in a shopping cart, but I resisted the urge. I should see about selling my cp pro and cx3.

RE: Horizon's Blade mCPX heli

i have one of these heli's, i've had it for a week now. i love this little heli. i've had no problems from it, other than lossing 1 link. they give you 4 more, so i just replaced it and back to flying. i have it bound to my dx6i and 7, it flys great with the stock settings. the manual comes with the settings for the dx6, 7, and 8. it is a tuff little heli, as long as you hit throttle hold before you crash. you can pretty much just pick it up and be flying again, without having to fix anything. it will do some mild 3d, but you need to be pretty good at collective management. the head will bog and the tail will blow out. if you just try to bang the sticks around.

some people are saying their blades are flying off(mines been good so far 50+ flights), and there are alot of mods people are using to try to solve the issue. but most of them are still failing. horizon hobby is trying to work on a cause and fix for it, but haven't come up with a fix yet.

some people are also using some fishing line, dental flose, and thin wire to tether the links and blades to the heli. so they don't lose them or hurt anybody when they come off. again, i've not had a problem. maybe i'm not crashing it hard enough, and i always hit throttle hold before it hits the ground.

i would suggest this heli to anybody that wants to fly a micro cp

for the tail, try and twist the tail rotor to give it more pitch
it will have better control :D

So is it a worthy trainer for my T-Rex 450?

I would say... YES! :D
I hope they come out with a brushless upgrade for it for added power
I just picked up another battery for it, but I think I'm going back for a few more lipo packs ;)
this thing is fun!!!

So I would be able to tell the difference from my mSR? How does it handle outdoor flight? I do not need another Heli that can't fly outside.

RE: Horizon's Blade mCPX heli

I just came indoors to charge up my 3 packs and flying in maybe 5mph winds
it does very well I think outdoors.. flight times of 6 to 6 1/2min average for me
well worth the money I spent on it lastnight, much more fun than my Micro Beast I just got
I am going to try one of these 200mah 25c Eflite lipos in my SU-26xp
they seem so have much more power than my Turnigy 240mah 20c packs I have for it ;)

RE: Horizon's Blade mCPX heli

my mcpx is down right now, it sucks. i took it with me to my clubs airfield yesterday, to show it off. i was having a blast flying it around, all was good. then a kinda newer member asked to try it, this is where it all went wrong. at first he was doing ok. then he decided he want to try and flip it, look out. he ended up slamming it into one of the picnic tables and breaking the rear ball link on the swash plate. i didn't get mad, since i let him fly it. he did pay for the damage. but i now have to wait for a new swash plate to get shipped to me. i'm hoping to have it back up and flying in about a week. all was not lost, as i still had my 125, 450, and 500 with me at the field. so i didn't have to leave. but it just sucks i can't fly my newest heli. well, here's to waiting for parts to show up.

I picked one up today, and 15 seconds of spinning up to check the settings and a blade blew off. Not too happy. It has the old style head on it, but it has other problems, the cyclic doesn't return to neutral, and the throttle is flaky.  It also seems to run warm for the little amount of time it was plugged in, noticeable from the shell, near the plugs at the top of the 3n1.

RE: Horizon's Blade mCPX heli

I got mine yesterday. I have had limited success so far. It looks like a trip to a field on saturday morning. I need to trim it in a space that is heli friendly. I did read a post about bumping the expo up to 50%. I will almost certainly try that soon. As for power upgrades, I think that is an issue I may never get to. Beyond just set up and practice, which is usually a 40+ flight process then there is moving the swash to the advanced step. And in between I will be adjusting the dual rates, both expo and throw. I will need a new motor, but unless something amazing happens I will simply buy a new stock motor.

And I haven't even mentioned the outdoor blades.

For the stock charger, although the manual says go for 0.7, that will reduce battery life. Go for the 0.2 setting. It will take longer, but HK does not have batteries for this yet, I do not think, and HH is out of them.

do not trim this bird out... it can and will throw things off ;)

and as for the charger, these batteries are bigger than 200mah
I think they are 300mah or even bigger and charging them at .7 will not shorten the life of them as most lipos today can be charged at a 5c rating

I use 15% expo, any more and the heli just does not feel right to me :D

250mah, half of the one used for the 120SR, but cost $5 more.

Ill check to be sure, but I think I'm putting back 265mah after 6min of flying...

I will keep fooling with it but mine has a serious back left drift. It is not at all into hovering. I am doing a modified RADD system to get the feel for it. I will switch to the outdoor blades for outdoor practice.
