PiccoZ Micro R/C heli
hey does anyone have this Heli? how good is it? I am planning on getting one when they come out in the US but i wasnt to make sure that it will last like the AA.
any help would help Thx, |
RE: PiccoZ Micro R/C heli
i dont think anyone has one yet, they're fresh off the assembly line, due out in July i believe. i'm sure we'll hear about them when they hit the shelves, i know i'll be getting one (and the Gyrotor, and micro mosquito).
the man who invented them has said they're pretty much indestructable, they just dont have enough mass to hurt themselves from a fall, so they should fair just as well as the AA. this is a quote from him describing its controll: 1 channel is full proportional up/down, 2nd channel is full proportional left/right. There is a digital and very precise trim on left/right. The reason for the 2 channels 'only' is that consumers (as opposed to modellers) want very simple things. However, foreward speed can be controlled too: in a slow right turn, the helicopter will accelerate. In a slow left turn, the helicopter will decelerate and go back to hover (or even fly backwards depending on CofG). This way, I fly them around in very tight places without any problem. The only way to make them fall out of the air is to stop the rotor from turning. Any other hit on the boddy is immediately corrected automatically. I can see aircombats where one PiccoZ tries to 'land' with it's skids on top of the rotor of another PiccoZ. The lower one wil drop out of the air (don't worry, it's unbreakable) and the upper one has the victory! nick |

RE: PiccoZ Micro R/C heli
i read in a magazine what the difference was. and it said one was a little bigger(gyrotor) and one could handle more wind(piccoz). i'm not exactly sure but i'll find out what the actual difference was.

RE: PiccoZ Micro R/C heli
Well lets say it's 29 pounds so in dollars I'm guessing around $50-$60.

RE: PiccoZ Micro R/C heli
Okay, I ordered both the gyrotor which is supposed to be indoor/outdoor, and 3 channel. And the Picco Z 2 channel IR. Totoal cost with shipping...... $100.00. The company that is selling them is Hobbypeople.net. I should have more info tomorrow, reguarding arrival times. I hope some of you see this.

For what its worth, the little choppers are at Toys or Us at 29.95. Picked one up Saturday and have been flying it around office on and off all day. A lot of fun and bounces very well. Starting to show up at Radio Shack as well.

RE: PiccoZ Micro R/C heli
i'm in Washington right now visiting family. i had hoped that maybe radio shacks here would be carrying the PiccoZ here, since they wernt yet in Minnesota. well, today i finally made it to an RS, and low-and-behold, there they sat on the shelves. i almost did a little dance!
the heli and 8 batteries (only need 6 actually), came in at just over 40 bucks, which isnt bad at all. the heli is only 9.5 grams in weight, single stage gear reduction on its 6mm motor, with a 4mm motor in the back. the tail prop looks fantastic, i cant wait to stick one on one of my planes. i dont have a camera on hand, but i'll take some pics when i get home this saturday. i can say right now though that its very stable. while in mid air, i have smacked it pretty hard with my hand and it flew across the room, then leveld out and retained stability. getting it trimmed and flying right is tricky, but not hard. it'll hover in place just fine, if you put it in a clockwise circle, it'll speed up, if you put it in a counter-clockwise turn it'll slow down, stop, then go backwards. very cool. i can see a lot of ways to increase its stability and shed some weight, i'm anxious to get home and start modifiying it. plus, the electronics should work great in planes as well. nick |
