Here is my post on the Sukhoi, but Tuesday is more realistic. I have learned that pre-orders will go out Monday or Tuesday. And yes I am quite sheepish about this.:

Bad news, while I thought I ordered on 3-4-09, and printed it, I manually split the order so that the SU-26m was cut out of the order.:(:(:(:(. I figured this out with a very nice CS agent at Horizon. I was not impressed with myself, not even a little. The next round of Su-26m's is due out in August, as this shipment is sold out. Somehow I think late August[>:][>:][>:] There is an extremely good chance that I planned on ordering from my LHS, that is my usual MO with HH.

Good news, I make a concerted effort to work with the LHS and have befriended the operator/manager. I buy everything that makes sense to buy in his store, and buy most all of my batteries there. And I knew that he was talking about getting some SU-26m's in. So I gave him a call. He has at least one that is going to ship tomorrow(7/16). And it has my name on it:):D:D:D[8D] I may have the plane faster than if I preordered it this way.

If there is a moral, it is to work with your LHS as much as possible.

The first things that I see that are new are the wheel hub gauge system and that the shrink tub is pre applied on the body, and of course the manual.

Take careful note of how the plastic tube is installed in the first pic on page 6, You need to put the tube through the hole you just drilled.

Using the instructions the D was much easier and simpler this time around. I can't find my original instructions but I remember the CF flying around a couple of times.

I may have just messed up. I added some red Sharpie to the under elevons and they seem to want to curl[X(][>:], they are weighted flat so we shall see. I can fix this bit it is just tail weight.

On page 20, step 2, while verifying that the cf is at 1 1/8" up also verify that it is about 1/16 or so back from the trailing edge of the wing/body. This should allow the pushrod hinge to sit perfectly on the trailing edge. It will make your trimming easier.

OK, pic's in this post. And depending on how much I get done, I may have flown the last flights of my first Bug. I took a look at the hinge points on my elevons, they are way over the hinge point, much less spaced back a touch. I have learned a ton in the last 17 months about building airplanes.

On page 22, step 4, the last two sentences are " Do not induce any up thrust. Make it (the motor mount) level". I can not express just how important this is. This was not in the original instructions, and I am certain that I have a couple of degrees of up in my old Bug. This makes for an unstable platform unless you have everything just so.

Ok I did a push to get the new Bug to maiden tonight. And I took a bunch of pics. The maiden is done. The Bug is massively tail heavy. The new manual tells you to parse the wing to get the CG. 95 MM, is the number

I am going to disagree with the official number My retired Bug is marked for 115 mm

OK, using the 95mm number, which is 1/3 wing, or the 100-110 number, I think you are going to be a touch tail heavy. Otherwise when flying very slow precision stuff you would be fighting nose drop. My mistake. The maiden was quite amusing. I have everything set to Zero, I take off, and immediately go into a loop[X(] and got into that Bug ok I am only somewhat in control lets back off the throotle and get her pointed towards clear sky again. I flew out the battery and the new LG mod worked superbly, and I taxied back. I am about to go for flight 2.

I have decided that I will probably not go for another 1000 flights. The initial performance is so much better than my first bug that when the foam goes all soft, I'll have to replace it. That means I should be good for a year of heavy use at least.

A terrible thing happened last night. The new Bug is hiding in a tree. I could not get a handle on the Bug, between a wind current and the tail heaviness. Last night the prognosis for getting it down was iffy. Today it has been blown off of it's first perch, glided over the airborn deadfall and landed on it's back, mid bough. Given it's position and the fact that it is in the first tree in the windbreak, and that any decent wind is channeled into that hillside and up, I may just have to monitor it's progress. As soon as my shoulder allows it, or it gets low enough, I'll pull out the fishing pole. I tried that yesterday just once., bad call.

Last night I was in a bit of mourning, todays developments show that I should get it back..

OK party people, I got the Bug Back!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D. Checking out the motor. New servos and esc and probably take it dsm2. The dark side is very nice. Here a couple of initial pics.

OK, the rebuild is on. The watt meter numbers are 94.5Wp and 9.6Ap, for anyone interested the rest of the numbers are 0.1Wh, 0.018Ah, and 9.7Vm.
I will use the same rx that Ron is using, ar6110. And of course the LG bow broke while I dried out the motor. I have lots of the correct cf for that issue
