Default RE: New Krill Spark Evo I- Build Thread.....

I started with the cg as Jesky adviced, stab 0 cockpit is zero , wing 0,5.
this is a good starting point , I added some more right thrust and moved the battery about 1,5 cm back .
So fare no mixes exept idle to 2% down.

I have my CG at 220mm from leading edge.I think Jesky has his CG at 215mm.My stab is 0 incidence and main wing at 0.7 positive. I've added more downthrust. About 1 degree down and 1.5 right. My plane is about 4820g RTF.

You should at least have 0.5 positive on the main wings or the plane will fly tail low unless you have your cg quite far back.

Just finish my Spark Evo and did my first flight. The plane is awesome. CG is at 220mm and both my wings are +.06 stabs are 0. Added a little of down trust and right thrust. Flying weight is with TP4400 G6 4785g and with TP5400 G6 4930g.

My setup is:
Hacker Q80 13XS F3A
Falcon V2 20.5 x 14.5
Jeti Spin99 Pro
Futaba 18Mz
Futaba R7008SB with telemetry on the receiver battery and motor battery
6.0V system
Ail BLS551
Ele BLS651
Rud BLS352

Thank you Ivo for your help and fast delivery. This is a great flying plane. Finish quality is awesome. [8D]

My throws are:

Pattern Flying:
Ail 12 degrees Ele 14 degrees and Rub Atvs 65%
Stall
Same as pattern but Rud Full movement
Snap
Ail 35 degree Ele 6 degrees and Rub Atvs 42%

Have a question for Spark Evo owners: What throws are you using for the different condition we have in F3A??????

Regards,

Ney

Here are some pics of my 2 Spark´s. Final setup:

Hacker Q80 13XS F3A
Falcon V2 20.5 x 14.5
Jeti Master Mezon 95
Futaba 18Mz
Futaba R7008SB with telemetry on the receiver battery and motor battery
6.0V system
Ail BLS551
Ele BLS651
Rud BLS352

All I can say is that they are great flying planes. No problem at all for P-13, P-15 F-13 and F-15 . Looking foward for the new F3A plane by Krill

Nice looking pair of Sparks.

What is the difference between a Spark Evo I and a Spark Evo II?

Woodie:

Nothing only is the sticker, honest mistake and had the stickers made wrong. [&o]

Only thing I change are the wheel pants ( I think they look much cooler this way + 34g less) , wheels and put 3 reinforcement on the back of the rud servo tray.

Hi All,

I am slowly putting my Spark Evo 1 together. Can someone that has experience building this model please post the correct method of installing a Hacker Q80 14xs into the model? Particularly how to go about setting up the correct right and down thrust into the firewall and how to achieve the best gap between the spinner and the fuselage.

I have the Krill supplied firewall for the Q80.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Adam.

Hello Ney!
Don't you think that a Falcon 20.5 x 14.5 is too much load for a Q80-13XS?
I have this motor, with Spin 99: very powerfull, and no problem with an apc 20x13.
If I put an Ulsamer 21x13 W or an Apc 20.5 x14, there is a risk of the motor screeching (loss of synchro) if the battery is a new one and fully charged, even with the throttle limited (-100% - + 60%)
Have you ever had this problem? Or have you reduced the timing? (25° on mine)
Thanks, regards,
jean-Claude L'Hostis

Hi all,
I really need some help here.
I have loosely fitted the motor and prop parts together for my Hacker Q80 and Falcon 21 x 14 prop.
1. Firstly do I need to use the Flange washer and spacer that came with the Q 80 as they do not fit with the Krill supplied Q 80 engine mount?
2. The prop does not seat properly on the spinner back plate. Do I space the prop up - or do I cut the spinner back plate to suit the propellor?
Thanks for any help.
Regards, Adam.

Hi Guys,
I kept fiddling with the motor prop assembly.
I realised I had the prop on backwards. Oops!!!
The prop seats properly on the spinner back plate.- Few!!!!!
I used the flange washer and spacer on top of the Krill Q 80 mount and all, seems to be OK.
If any body can see an error please let me know.
Thanks, Adam.

Jean-Claude:

I agree 100% with you. At low altitude I will used a max of 20x13 prop but where I live (Quito-Ecuador second highest capital in the world) our flying field is around 2830 meters above sea level (9284 feet) so this is why a need just a little extra on the prop. When I go down to lower cities for competition if it is below 1500 meters (4921 feet) I change the prop and some settings.

My settings for:

High Altitude:
Timing 24°
Th Curve is -115% for brake -97% idle (around 1500-1700 rpm) 78% for Full Th.
Acc time is 1.5 seconds
Brake is Manual start 38% final 78%
I used 20.5 x 14.5 and 20 x 14.5 props and get around ± 6800 rpm and no more than 72 amps
I fly Ps with TP 4400 and land with ± 37.5 volts
I fly Fs with TP 5400 and land with ± 37.9 volts

Lower Altitude:
Only things I change are: Brake much lower starting and final %. Prop to a max 20x13. Timing 25°.
Th Curve setting to achieve ±6500 rpm and a idle of ± 1300 rpm
Only change Snap throws and put around 15% to 20% more Expo on all flight conditions.

Regards,

Ney

Hello Ney:
Thanks for your response and these very interesting considerations.
I suppose that you could be of a good advice for lot of people going to the WC in South Africa and who are asking themselves a lot of questions about the settings for flying at 1500m (high?) altitude.

Yesterday I tried lowering the timing to 23° and 24° and all seems ok with 21x13W.
my settings (subject to change...):
- acceleration: 1.0s
- brake: 0.2s,18%, 50%, 1,5s
- timing: 23° - 24°
- full throttle travel limited to 60% for a new battery and 100% for my old ones (300+ flights)

regards,
jc

Hi All,

Just an update of my install of the Q80 into the Spark.

It is installed!
All went in very easily in the end. Correction to my last post I have used the Flanged washer and all the parts supplied with the Q80.
I hope this helps any other newbies installing a Hacker Q80 into a Spark.

Regards, Adam.

Is there an advantage to using the low profile BLS 551 servos for the ailerons. It looks like a standard size servo would fit in the wing

thank you, murry
