Default Newbe Guestion Setup Wind S 110

Hi Guys,

I have a few guestions about my power system for the Sebart Wind S 110 , my first pattern plain

1* http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0KV_2400W.html
Will this motor do the job with a e APC 18x10
2* Wich settings do i need too program , i will be using a CC 100
3* Can i use the BEC from the CC 100 or is it better to use a separt 2s lipo for the RX
4* http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Lipo_Pack.html
Will these lipo`s do the job ? And what is the aprox flying time ( because i want a long flying time on my packs.
5* The Compact pack`s have 2 balancer boards thus this means they are 2 x 5800 4s so i can paralel charge
them as 4S lipo.

I hope to get some answers from you Guys...

Greetings Frank

Hi,

Have You read the 72 page post of Wind S 110 here?
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_79..._1/key_/tm.htm

Any special reason not to use standard components recommended by Sebart except lower cost at HobbyKing?

Only thing I can comment on is Castle Creations ICE 100 ESC - I have that in my smaller Sebart Wind S 50E and it has worked fine so far (probably over 500 flights by now) but I use 6 cell LiPo (and get 70 amp at full throttle in air). Since ICE 100 can handle up to 8 cell LiPo and up to 100 amp continous I suppose it should be OK in most cases also with a Wind S 110.
What setting You may prefer in CC ICE 100 I can not say and it depend on electric motor choice also.
I use firmware 3.27 in my CC ICE 100 (I do not dare to use any newerversions since they had major bug in one of the newer versions).
I use the BEC in my CC ICE100 ESC to save little weight but in the larger planes like this Wind S 110 I would not use the BEC but instead use at least one LiFe or LiPo battery for receiver and servo power source and probably a PowerBox System DigiSwitch.
http://www.powerbox-systems.com/e/po...itch/start.php

I have no experince about HobbyKing Zippy Compact LiPo (I have only tried their Turningy 6 cell 5000 mAh 30C in about 100 flights and so far it is OK, but I use otherwise DesirePower LiPo mostly).

A note about the Wind S 110 - there is a newer Sebart Mythos 125E (for 6 or 8 cell LiPo) just released in some countries (and soon released in Europe, later this month) so if you have not already bought the Wind S 110 maybeYou cancheck out the Mythos also.
But of course if you are on tight budget a Wind S 110 with HobbyKing motor etc will work fine also.

Since the HK Zippy Compact battery is a an 8S with one power lead, be careful assuming you can parallel charge just because the battery has 2 balance leads. On some chargers, the power leads need to be connected to the charger as well as the balance leads in which case the charger will see an 8S pack, not a 4S. Your charger may handle just charging thru the balance leads but you will be limited in how many amps you can charge at due to the size of the balance lead wires. You would be better off considering this pack as a single 8S. If you need to charge in parallel as an 8S, you may be better off with 2 4S packs.

Also, if you charge in parallel, the 2 4S packs will appear as one 4S pack with 11600 mah capacity. Takes a pretty powerful charger to charge that in any reasonable time and charging thru the balance leads is usually limited to less than 4A due to the wire gauge on the balance leads.

Silva. I get 9 min on a 4200 8s pack discharging to around 70-75 using CC 100 and Xoar 18x10 prop but different motor (300kv) than you are considering. I think you can get atleast12min on the 5800. obviously depends on throttle usage, etc though
