My friend just purchased one from Mike Mueller at the Toledo and had it dropped off at my house a short time ago.
On my Etude I purchased the F3A battery tray and the new mounting kit that allows for battery tray removal. I installed the kit last night, best accessory I've purchased yet. My friend ordered the F3A battery tray along with the removable tray kit. If you ever have to work on the landing gear it makes life a whole simpler. For $9.50 it's a steal http://www.f3aunlimited.com/gator-rc...ket-kit-grcrtb

The Caelus v2 flies even better than the v1. I was able to use the factory battery tray by adding lite ply strips on the fore and aft ends for reinforcement. The cg was close with the batts the aft end. Still a bit nose heavy for my flying, so I'll add 1 to 2 ounces of lead weight below the stab.

Sorry I can't help you on this one. The only bit of advice I can offer is F3A offers a great firewall mount that's fitted for the Caelus rear mounted motors, specifically the Himax.
If your in possession of the Hacker Q80 14xs I would imagine you could make it fit. If your pondering about what motor to use the Himax 210 is a great choice at a significant savings.
Big_G might be able to answer your question better, he's built three. I built one last year and flew it throughout the season and will continue to do so again this year. I've just started building another one for a friend of mine that I started last night.

Can't help on the Q80. All three of my Caelus' have the Himax 6330-210-pro. Love the motor.

The Q80 is a front mount motor and can be mounted on the caelus. There are probably several articles on RC Universe on front mounting somewhere. Also, check with some of your local pattern flyers in your area. They should be able to help.

I would be surprised if you need to add weight to the the V2, I'm sure it is possible though.
After repairing my landing gear block last year I moved the battery tray back from my original installation 1.5". This puts the trailing edge of the lipos on center with the front wing adjusters.
I wish I found the Gator RC removable battery tray kit before I reassembled everything.

Hi Guys. The name is Rick Bergeron and I acquired a Caelus when Mike M. first started offering them. I have been looking at the forum from time to time and enjoy all the tips and innovations offered here for the Caelus. I will offer some input when I have something that might be useful for all.

I must have hit been by a truck or something as i volunteered to build a friends Caelus.
The first one I built was in May of 2016, it is / was V2, the newer lighter model. Compared to last years model not much has changed other than the way the horizontal stabs adjust, not bad just different.
One thing I did on this version was to place a carbon fiber plate between the firewall and motor mount. When you tighten the motor mounting bolts the plywood does not crush. Also, I spent a fair amount of time aligning the firewall/ spinner to the nose and was determined to get it right. Once I set the firewall in place, I tacked it with medium CA. Once I was satisfied with the final alignment I used Loctite E20 HP to make it permanent. This product has become my all purpose adhesive, I have yet to find anything any better.
The pull / pull rudder cables are in the same location as my original build and made it pretty easy to replicate.

At the least you should scuff the fuselage wipe it with acetone and apply a constant bead of loctite / hysol 1c or 11c depending on your color preference. If you have the gun use the series 20.
I chose to make a new one from carbon fiber plates, as posted here in this thread. The new Caelus is by far the best plane in its class for the money, hands down.

I managed to finish building my friends Caelus on saturday. After. A final CG check, set throws at 10 percent, we plugged in the Lipos and let it rip. Two clicks of down elevator and this this thing flew great.
I tried passing off my Caelus for his, but he wasn't taking the bait.
As I've stated in earlier posts, for the money you simply can't buy a better plane for the money. Plus, the deal Mike @ F3A unlimited has on this bird is hard to pass up.

Hey Guys.
The Caelus is far and away the best selling plane in the history of my company F3A Unlimited.
I've been happy with the manufacturer in many ways. They are constantly improving their products.
We are introducing a new paint scheme today.
Please see the listing. Anna took these photos yesterday as I just dry fit the components together for the photos.
The price has increased but I promise it has got a lot to do with the costs I've incurred. Things are getting a tad more expensive.
For an all composite beautifully painted well made good flying plane I think its still a good deal.

The accessories for the plane can be discounted if you contact me we can discuss this.
The original scheme is available as always. Yes, they were out of stock for a while but back better than ever.

Thank you for your support. Its very much appreciated.
