Default 2017 Argentina F3A World Championship

Good day,

Is there a website devoted to this event that presents live results and video like the one that was set up for F3P and what is it?

You can get the weather from
https://www.google.com/search?q=vill...05067570&cad=h

and it is mucho gusto, 10 - 15 mph.

Regards, J e r

Friday's forecast is strong winds and rain all week. Should make the event most challenging.

A number of countries didn't field a team.
Italy? Austria? Mexico? India? Sweden? Greece? Israel?

Portugal, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, San Marino, Denmark, Ukraine - More European countries that normally field full or near full teams !?

Austria is there - Gernot Bruckman. ITALY - wow - where is Sebastiano Silvestri?
I counted 65 entrants and typically the number is around 100. Is pattern dying? Was the cost of going to Argentina too great?

How will the E-powered planes perform if they have to fly in the rain?

D.C. Voltage doesn't seem to mind liquids. Keep in mind there is a brushed 12V motor submerged in gasoline on most cars and trucks.

As far as pattern dying? That is a whole thread alone. How much does a pattern airplane of WC quality cost? My estimate with a spare power system would be in the 12,000.00 US dollar range. I have see the same thing happen with pylon and soaring as well, we advance the technology and cost right up to the point of making our sport extinct.

A plane at the WC level probably is closer to 5k US

It's not just dollars, although you really need to have at least two working aircraft, crating and shipping money, plus hotel, food and transportation money. Teams typically beg for benefactors, most of whom are the country's other pattern fliers.

Those who aspire to be on the team pretty much have to be full-time F3A pilots, and it helps to be in the business or independently wealthy as the small group of benefactors have limitations, too.

The sequences themselves have increased in difficulty, which helps in judging, but has taken a toll on the weekend fliers who used to imagine themselves in the same category as the pros. You have to know two sequences, plus a number of other maneuvers which will make up the unknown sequence. To be flown with any confidence, the unknown really requires a trained caller. The caller adds additional complication and expense. One ponders, “Gosh. Would I really want to be on the team?”

IMHO F3A is squeezing out it’s bottom-end fliers and losing their monetary and competition support.

Sorry but you are way off. The bare airframes run from 2,500 to 5,000, a contra set up with motor is 2K, another 1K for batteries and charger. Servos are 125.00 EACH, speed controls are 200.00-300.00. Hardware is another 300.00. A good TX and RX will be between 500.00 and 2K. Shipping charges for all the prices ordered. Trust me I have done the math.

I donít think we were talking about the shipping cost of the aircraft to the WC, more about what it cost to put a high level Pattern plane together and assuming you already have a transmitter. I have to agree that you can put a very competitive plane together in the 5k range. If you are going to do the contra drive then you will creep up the bottom line. Much like anything else, you can spend much more.
