[vid] testing contrarotating prop distance
Probably a bit over the top for RC, and a little bit scary as well. But o.t.o.h. RC gets feathers up its rectum (too Dutch? )
Robert Llewellyn impressed by RC outrunners. The actual test starts @12m40s, determining optimal coaxial setup distance.
Not quite Scrapheap Challenge

Saw this last year. Awesome plane, I'm wondering how the project has progressed since. I still want to see actual thrust/efficiency data reflecting ideal contra prop spacing instead of a clown being amazed that propellers produce airflow, who knew! I love the "eye protection" as if slinging off one of these props in this environment merely offered a threat of eye damage. Still, I'm wondering if the RC community has spent much effort in determining optimal contra prop spacing. I've only seen the result of a natural effort to reduce packaging size and therefore weight but nothing [except perhaps in Indoor Pattern] where spacing was addressed.
