I am new to the electric sene with the pattern birds but maybe someone out there that is familiar with the use of electric power-plants and batteries can help. I have about came to the end of my patients with electrics.
I have set up several planes, phenom, icepoint and latiest an extreme mini edge 540. In the phenom, I used an axi 5330-18 power-plant with a Phoenix 90 speed control and 3 5400mah e-flight batteries for a total of 33 plus volts. The problem is radio lockout and interference which has caused a crash of the phenom and several lockouts with the icepoint and mini edge 540. On the icepoint I used a Arco 32-3 engine and duralite 6450 mah a18.5 volt battery. on the mini edge I used the same Arco engine but with a 14.5 volt 3000 mah battery and a jeti 77 amp speed control. I have tried putting chokes on the line from the speed control to the receiver all with no or minimal success. I still get some wild hits at several fields not all at the same flying field. Am I the only one getting these problems? I have even tried mounting the batteries in rubber with no help... The lockouts and hits seem to be worse with increasing volts and amps. I can fly the mini edge with the 14.5 volt battery but with the 18.5 volt battery it is impossible??? Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks Harold...

I responded to your post on another thread but maybe you didn't see it. You said you are using the 14MZ, are you using the reciever that came with it? If so, does it have the long antenna or has it been cut, by either you or Futaba?
I am having interference problems as well. You aren't alone, though we are definitely in the minority it appears. I have had two e-pattern planes and this is a first for this kind of interference.

I am using a jr x-347 pcm radio in the mini edge with a pcm receiver. As to your question about my 14mz futaba, I guess the antenna has been shortened as it seems a bit too short to me. It is certainly shorter than the jr x-347. Both radios seem to be getting the same interference though. I just wonder what tghe other fellows are doing to stop the problem. You said that this is your second e-pattern plane, how did the other e-plane do?
Did it get the same interference? What kind of engine did you use and what kind of battery? thanks harold...

This is actually my third, the other two worked just fine. There were some interference issues, but that was tracked down to a faulty gimbal and antenna mount in my 9Z. Even so, out of approximately 250 flights between the two airplanes, there were only four incidents.
My Genesis had issues on each of the first four flights. I changed the esc with no improvement and finally changed the rx to a 1024 and thought I had the problem solved.
Later on I did have the same issues with the old receiver, but much less frequently. I finally got a choke to try in between the rx and esc, but weather and a back problem have prevented me from testing that.
If this doesn't work, the choke, then I will route the antenna outside the fuse, probably on the bottom.
Using AXI 5330/F3A, Jeti 90 ESC, TP 5S3P 6000 x 2.
Look at your wiring, try to avoid the esc wire that goes to the rx from being on top of or real close to any flight battery wiring ( a guess but can't hurt). If the choke doesn't, or didn't work, route the antenna outside the plane either down the fuse or along a wing.
Is there one thing in common between this planes? Motor, esc, servo, reciever??? If it's the same ESC that could be the problem..
I don't know what to suggest really since your problems seem to be across the board and not just with one plane.
Do you have a lot of carbon fiber in your planes? Are you using metal clevices on metal horns?
