Default Can you help a newbie?!

Guys,

Thought I'd have a go at some F3A during the winter so am about to order Seba's new Wind S Pro.

I'm looking at motor options and Seba recommends the geared Hacker C50 13XL but I have seen other similar models powered by the Hacker A60-22S. There's a BIG price difference. What am I paying for with the C50 and what's the benefit?? Krill, for example, list the A60-22S as the motor for their Shark?

For a first foray into pattern I want to have a good setup but don't want to break the bank unless I have to. I'll go Oxai and C50 for that...

So, please can someone give me the pros and cons for these motors in an F3A model??

Cheers,
Mark

Mark,

I had 1- A-60 22S.... I have 4- C-50 14XL's... None of them cost me... thankfully neither did the A-60. Hacker does have a new outrunner in the works, but the C-50 is already out.

Mark ... Hackers are great motors but why not wait for the Scorpion F3A motor that will be out soon. The bolt pattern should the same as Hacker and seemingly it will be lighter. Its cheaper too. I am running a Scorpion 4035 on my WindS 110 (same bolt pattern as the A50) and I have no complains so far. They are cheaper too. If you want to spoil yourself I think try the Plettenberg, I got the Orbit 25/18 and she is smooth as silk, beats the Hyperion and AXI BUT its not cheap. Costs much more than those motors. I wonder what the mounting on the WindS Pro will be like ... just a nose ring and a support former at the back or ...

Thanks guys but, for my own understanding, can someons explain the 'benefit' of the C50 over the A60 outrunner?

Thanks

The C50 has a different power IMO. The A60 has a lot of speed. The C50 has some speed and torque IMO.

If you are getting into pattern for the first time, my recommendation is to buy what has worked for lot's of people or you won't be happy and will not have a good time flying pattern. If you are making the investment, IMO, don't skimp on the motor.
My list in order of what I would by is

Hacker C50 13 or 14XL or a Pletty (Top of the list, either one, they are both awesome)
Axi 5330 or 5325
Neu
Hacker A60 (haven't seen the new F3A yet though)

Good luck and hope you like flying pattern!

Chris

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies.

I have put the order in for the following. Hopefully it gets the nod from the pros!

Sebarts new Wind S Pro
Plettenberg EVO 30-10
Hacker JetiSpin 99 with F3A brake
EONX 4350 10s

hopefully this is a good setup and will start me from a good place?!

Cheers
Mark

Basically you ask between an inrunner and an outrunner. Main differences are:
They feel different, can not really explain but the outrunner is more like a two-stroke and the inrunner more like a four-stroke but closer to each other than with the ic comparison.
The inrunner has a maintenance issue.
The outrunner is less efficient.

Which Scorpion 4035 are you running?
What about the ESC?

Mark ... its the 4035-250 ... ESC is a HobbyWing 100A ESC, one of those China clones. It works fine but no braking for the downline, maybe its best to get a branded on for the brakes. Oh yes ... motor runs well on a XOAR 18x10E.
