Oh,

I feel I could have got it in at about 10-8lbs to 10-10 lbs had I tried. I really didn't try to keep it light in the painting. It was almost scary light (for me) before paint and miscellaneous hardware.

Great job, Chris. Remember... it is always easier to add weight than to reduce it.

Was going to maiden it today after work. No work cuz my back is jacked up, of course that wouldn't stop me going flying, but the crappy weather did. Was a little too windy for a maiden for me. I'm ok with it. I'm a firm believer in things happening for a reason. So I'm spending the evening going over the whole plane again! Shoot again for tomorrow.

Maiden was blown out today. Crazy winds here. Sunday looks good.

Here's some interior pics.

Thunder Power 10S 5300 V2's.
I could lose quite a bit of weight if I wetsand some of the excess clear. I bought a new gun, and it sprayed a little odd for the first two coats. So I sprayed 2 more thicker coats which ended up pretty good. If you are a light painter, you could easily be 10lbs 10ou, maybe less. I still may wetsand it to save more weight, but I want to be as close to 11lbs as I can be as it's almost always windy where I fly. I'll see how it fly's first.

Went well. Rolls good, holds good lines, has good speed. I'll know more after a small right thrust change, and playing with the wing incidence and cg.

I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris,

Just be careful with those wires against the honeycomb stuff. Even though it's electric, snaps and flying will cause the wires to move and could chafe. Congrats

Chris,

Did you cut that spinner, or did it come that way? Cool.

Thanks Jason. I assume you are talking about the rec and rec pack. I thought I would be moving it around, so I didn't want to put anything there yet. But thanks a lot for the reminder as I hadn't thought about that lately.

Don, thanks! After I get her all trimmed out, I'll come up and let ya fly it. Heck, I may come up and have you help me trim it out! It's this area that I think I lack in the most!

Steve, I cut the spinner. And the motor ran cool. Not sure it was because of the cut outs, but the motor ran at 80 degrees on the hardest flight. Of course it was 65 degrees out. But still, my motor in the Abbra usually ran much hotter, up in the 140-150 range. Of course, I'm just running standard 14xl's. I am getting ready to test a Himax F3A motor in the Abbra though. I look forward to the comparison.

Chris:

One comment about the Himax 6330/F3A motor; it won't fit Jetti Advance Plus 77. What ESC are you planing to use? Mine is CC 85HV, you may use my setting as a starting point. Let me know.

Sorry Luke, missed this. I have it all mounted and ready to go with the Jeti 90 in the Abbra. I took out the firewall and redid it. Still waiting for the daily fog to go away here in the valley.

I could come down there and fly though.

Well, she is no more. Not sure what happened as I don't care to be in the garage to look at it. I lost ele's on final. Still had Ailerons though.
Pretty bummed as it was really flying good and I felt like it would give me the advantage that I needed to do really good this season. Pretty much puts the nail in the coffin on my season as I can't afford another plane. Dang toy planes..

Hey Chris, Sorry to hear about your lost. I know you've worked pretty hard on that plane. I was intending on contacting you on what we talked about this past weekend, but i'll forgo that until later. Stay up bud!!

Wow, that photo just hurts to look at! Something bad happened to your elevator connection, either electrical or mechanical from the sounds of it. Since you still had other controls you know you were not in fail safe and had power.

Still s u c k s.

Check your TX pots. I lost a plane this same way a few years ago. Flying all day, all was fine. Took off for last flight of the day and then my elevators just started to fade away as I was doing a half cuban. I stuck the radio system back together on my bench and everything was fine at first. I kept playing with it and then the elevator quit working (actually it started to behave erratically). I switched transmitters and it was fine. Bad elevator pot on the TX.

that reminds me. time to send my TX in for new pots all the way around.

Thanks guys.

Maybe there will be a part two to this thread. Has anyone ever done a 2 plane (semi) build thread?

I just want to say thanks to the people who have offered to help me. I'm actually amazed at the amount of people who have offered, especially for me. I appreciate it hugely!

Chris
