Brenner your too young and good looking to fly in Masters anyways.
Arch nothing would please me more than to come over to your contests. Now if I could only get clearance from the boss.
If I were single I'd try to set the modern day record for the most contests in a year. Couldn't beat Dave Brown who regularly went to as many as 20 a year. My personal record was 14. Mike

Geez,

D4/D5 Masters is going to be brutal this year. Especially if Archie shows up at the D4 Championship in September. I think I'll move on up to FAI and let Mark and Mike beat up on me. (just kidding. I wouldn't miss the street fight in Masters for anything ...)

Mike,

I have your solution. There is an awesome bed and breakfast 5 minutes from the flying field. Jim Quinn, and Rick Wallace brought their wives last year and they stayed there and said it was excellent. Saturday night at my contest we do a seafood dinner at a local restaurant on Chesapeake Bay. Last year we had 34 people attend dinner. The service was excellent and the food was even better. One comment I heard was that because of how the seating was arranged many people were able to sit with people they don't talk to often or had never met, so it really helped stimulate conversation. Most people were at dinner well over 2 hours.

Here is a link to the bed and breakfast.

Arch,

Your probably correct, Verne gets a bit cranky this time of year as he can't fly.

Can you be more specific as to which Neu motor is supported? There seems to be more than one Neu F3A motor. Has there been a posting with the dimensions of the adapters with bolt hole locations?
Thanks

We were given some really great encouragement re contra drives in Austria , the guy's might chime in here, between what we saw and what some people said.
The contra drive we saw (E-Factor unit) seemed extremely good but more optimised for calm weather. In those conditions it was undoubtedly a very strong combination. A certain Frenchman we spoke to also thought the contra drive offered certain advantages over a single prop system (electric and IC single prop systems).

The Contra Drive that I flew last year was set up the same way. That's why this year we have higher pitched props and different gear ratios. We want to be able to set the system up in different ways for different conditions.

By way of clarification, This is the official specification for the Neu f3a motor from the Neu website. This motor comes with a gearcase, but it has been available from f3aunlimited.com without the gearcase for $275 USD.

Hi guys,

As Dsnow said, contra drive is awsome. Thank you Brenner for this amazing work. I also want to thank Mike for mounting carbon plate which helped me a lot for the final set-up.
I started to set it up in my integral and you'll find some pictures of the several installation steps attached here, and you can see red anodized spinner.

Salut Vincent,

That red spinner looks awsome. I think I'm going to have to get a red one too.

Your right.
Brenner Sharpand Mike Gaishinhave all the neccesary assets to produce the highest quality products.
While they are too humble to boast here is Mike's company website. You'll see that its way past making parts for Model Airplanes.
Brenner is a top engineeron hisownand has impressive credentials that makes him qualified to make these units.

Hi,
Angus is being a little reticent.
The 'certain french man ' he refers to is CPLR.
Christophe and his Dad always have time for a good chat when we meet .
It's perhaps because they have fond memories of Mallow 2001. 'Dad' still wears the 2001 tee shirt for all Christophe's comp,, flights.
He is always great to talk to because his ability allows for a very refined and deep understanding of aerobatic models and he is very straight forward re what's what.
Anyway during one of our conversations with them,in Austria 2010, we discussed the new elliptical wing LE on his model and the merits of both GP and EP. Re the LE he said it was to increase ,slightly, the wing area without changing anything else; root/tip dimensions/positions.He wanted the extra area to compensate for the new larger, heavier CDI engine.
Re the merits of the two power options he acknowledged the known merits of both and the rapidly improving battery technology.
He did however say that the one outstanding advantage that electric power presents is the ability to run a contra drive with it
He went on to say that contra drives are likely to be the next significant development in F3A.

I just received a set of 22x20 props and they look really nice. Each prop weighs about 71 grams, has a very nice finish and is extremely stiff. Mike really has the technique refined on how to make these props, now all Brenner needs to do is get a logo and size on the front of the blades.

Hi,

I don't mean to put more work on his plate, but it would be cool if Brenner could make some stickers of contra-drive to stick on the plane.

Hi Dave,
We rec'd our props on Wedensday but I only got to check them out last night.
In 8 front props there is only a 1 to 2 g variance with the weights at 61g=63g.The rear props with the big hubs are a little heavier at 63g=65g for the 20in and a couple of extra grams for the original 18in.
The quality is very good indeed. They compare very well with the Rassa APC copies.
This all means that the Contra/Neu combo c/w props and the new YGE90 IS LIGHTER than my Pletty 30/10 ,Schulze ,APC & GP spinner combo and that's a 100g 20x15.
I think that this is a remarkable achievement so well done Brenner and Mike.
All we need now is some nice weather.

Brian,

Have you checked the balance on your props? Mike did his best to balance them before we shipped them out. What he did was inject a small amount of epoxy resin into the the hollow center of each light blade, and and then he used centrifugal force to distribute the epoxy so that the prop measured as balanced on a gram scale. He's hoping to eliminate the need for people to have to sand the props to balance them, which will help maintain the airfoil shape and the smooth resin rich surface finish.

On another note, we have been working on a Logo. This is still very much a work in progress, but here are some variations that we have been looking at. I'd appreciate any comments or feedback that anyone cares to give.

Hi Brenner,
No, I just gave them a once over.I need to get a centering spindle made for the rear props.
I was thinking of using the contra rear hub for the moment.I will try to check them later or in the morning.

Re a logo; the sixth sample is best. The fifth one is too much like a 4 blade prop. The others are a little bit the same.
I think you need a name for it, to 'brand' it.
I know you have a collaboration with Mike and co but I think your surname is very usable, it's very sharp .
eg; The Sharp Drive.
The Sharp CR Drive
The Sharp Contra.
SCR Drive
I'm not much good at this : ).

Hey Brian,

Thanks for the input. I agree that we need to "brand" it like you say, but I think there are too many other people who are involved to associate just my name with the brand. It wouldn't be fair to Mike and Andy Gaishin, and others.
