congrats what was the voltage per cell after 6 min. and i agree esc mounting will not effect like that, check the elevaters and check that the stab. is secure.
Hi,

I get an average of between 3.80 between all 6 lipo's after 6 min flying.
Another I have notice, I did a climb out, then did straight down vertical with throttle at idle, a very strange noise sounded like came from the motor, is that the brake that came on?

Kind regards,
M

Most likely that is the brake that you heard. Has a strange screeching type sound to it.

Hi Morne,

Just returned from the field,

We had an excellent afternoon flying Seba's models

This a really nice setup. If I haven't my stuff for sure Scorpion should have been my choice.

My SetUp is Turnigy 5065-380 for the WindS along with the Turnigy 85A ESC. (cheap solution).
I run on 6S 4000mAh40C Batteries, Turnigy again q

I'm almost ready to go out and do my maiden tomorrow if I work hard tonight !

Hi Tmark65

I am glad you had a good at the club. Im also using turnigy lipos, so far happy with them. I do not at this stage push hard, only fly for about 6 minutes at a time, with 40% left after the flight.
What do you think of the those, I think it is vortex generators for the wing?
I see you also have an Align 610 servo for rudder, also using it.

Morne,

Right now there are 5 WindS 50E in our little club. More or less we are copying the one from the other whatever has to do with Setup, only one friend is flying with the HACKER proposed by Seba Setup.
The rest 4 TURNIGY .....

I have 3 Align 610 for Rudder and Ailerons and two Align 520 for Elevators (I stole them from a friends TREX700 and the 520 from my Trex500)
If I had money at that time, when I bought it, I should have been using the Futaba F3A servos, what I'm using in my Oxalys.
I made the decision to go on a pull pull system since this provides better aerodynamics for the tail.

What SeBA utilises on the wing is a Vortex Device. This is called "Saw Tooth" ("dog tooth").
It was introduced back in the 60's. IL-26 and a F-4E was two types of aircrafts using them to prevent the inboard movement of a vortex on a swept wing.
This prominent feature acts as an aerodynamic fence vortex generator. It ensures vice-free behaviour at high angles of attack and assists efficient cruise.

That's the point, the WindS swept wing !

Hi Tasos,

That is some interesting info about the saw tooth.
If you go back a few pages you will see the first setup I had, the hobbyshop suggested it, but it was waY underpowered, so it cost me dubbel to go out and buy the right stuff. I saw Koakiss setup here on the web and ordered my motor and speed control from a hobbyshop in singapore, very good service, give you an idea, I ordered it the Thursday, the next it was at my front door all the from Singapore to South Africa, very impressive. I just waiting for my link from castle creations to download the paramaters and to adjust the thottle response. What do think of the mixing Sebart suggest in the manual?

Will post pictures later, I think will go out to club to if wind is not picking up.
Hope you get your aircraft done soon.

Safe flying

Goodmorning Morne !

I can't tell you if SeBa's setup and mixing is the correct one for your style or not.

I'm not that experienced pilot as Seba ..... []

What I will do is that I 'll stick on his recommendation for throws and EXPO. Then I'll try his mixing and with the other people in my club we will combine the experience gathered from their flights.

I assume it flies like the rest of his aircrafts, simple, easy and fun.

Having now flown most of Seba's designs on the pattern side, I can say that Seba prefers a much more tail heavy setup than I do. I also think his throws he lists are WAY too much for most people. On any design, don't be afraid to start with his recommendations and then adjust. Keep in mind, that it takes a LOT more throw to fly the FAI F sequence than it does flying the AMA sportsman sequence for people starting out. His recommended 3D throws are totally useless for pattern and if you set your plane up for them, you are only hurting your resolution for normal flying which should only be around 15 degrees. His recommendation of only running 30-40% on a dual rate is not an ideal pattern setup, and I would bet that none of his competition planes are setup this way. Good place to start if you want to fly 3D with the Wind, which it is terrible at, since it needs larger surfaces,

Hello everybody,

Finally I manage to spend some hours to the workshop yesterday ... a small progression happened since I'm not in a rush !

I re-iron some spots on the tail, body and wings, Install RX and manage organize some cables.
I'm planning to install a telemetry system for monitoring power.

Arch,
Please elaborate, do you run more than 40% on your wind ? I'm talking about low rates, I only use high rates doing the stall turn, and only for a second at the top. Also, I'm in the Sportsman class so I'm not doing any snaps or anything like that.

Thanks,
Randy

since we are about stalling, i just remember my will not do a stall spin...when i put max ele and rudder it just more horizontaly circles down then spining down. is my cg off? or i need to increase the rates?

Both my 2m Winds and my Wind 50 require aileron to start the spin. Once it starts to spin you can take out the aileron. How much elevator are you running?

On the elevator for a spin, 18-20 is reasonable. Normal flight I use about 12.

I guess I like my controls softer than you Arch.. I'm running 9 degrees for normal flight, and 18 for a spin entry. Any more than that and my starts to flatten out a bit.

ok i am at the club as i type, i turned on the brake, at 20% with 0.6 delayed response on a medium ramp, no sound to report, just the motor was hotter and the battery voltage per cell was lower after 7 min. it was only 3.69 per cell when i landed a bit warm on the packs, the run before had the brake off and it was 3.74 with nice temperature on the battery. at the last WOT before landing i am pulling 1240watts, this is a 17x8 prop grinded down to 16.6ish x 8 prop.
By the way after i have put around 30 runs on the wind i noticed that my wings have defect, the wing tips have different pitch. one of them is not good, i noticed this when i was slowing down(not even close to stall, just relatively), the plane will lean to one side and when i have speed it will stay normal again, same as for going up verticaly and coming back down, there is roll on different speed! its a shame Sebart!!!
Oh i got the stall spin sorted out, i did not have enough throw on it was the problem and it did need a aliron push to begine with, thank you.
beautiful day to be flying not a lot of wind and warm!! time to get a tan!
Just changed it to 30%, all i can say is "NICE"
another up date, i am putting back around 3150mah after i fly on a 4000mah pack. looking good! going to order a 16x8 carbon prop from hk!! and also a heat iron from them too, may need to get a cover also my yellow is bleaching off.

Yeap, even Blue version is nice but, there is a BUT !!!

Since of Last September my right eye has a "problem" so I' turned to luminus - bright colours scheme, or say it that I'm getting old !!!

My friend's Panos WindS is White and at dusk I can't see it ... actually it's outline.

This is the reason I went on Red-Yellow

Video: I'll try if my friend is willing to do so !
