zippy compact 5000 25c
What are you guys seeing for weight on your Zippy Compact 5000 25c packs? I just got a set and they weigh 1205g. I saw earlier posts that were claiming a lot less. I also noticed a fairly high IR when I first charged them. The cells were all at about 3.6-3.7. Seems pretty high for a new pack.
Are my numbers the same as you guys are seeing, or do I have an anomaly? |
RE: zippy compact 5000 25c
My heaviest 10S 25C 5000 is 1160g, my lightest is 1107. IR is 0-3 milliohm/cell. Cells arrived in storage charge at about 3.84v/cell. They've stood up pretty well to a full season of flying though one of my lightest packs did have a balance lead come loose from the internal tabs.

Hey Steve
My packs came in at 1161,and 1140, and the IR was around 0.5 to 1.7 ohm . i'm looking at getting 3 more packs |
RE: zippy compact 5000 25c
I will try mine out and see if the IR drops after I get a full cycle on them. I saw that on a recent set of SkyLipo's which showed a high IR initially then dropped down after I cycled them.
Oddly enough, the dimensions on my packs seem to match the published dimensions for the 5800's........ The weight is slightly less, but the published weights are always high. I'm thinking these are 5800's with a 5000 label stuck on them. |
RE: zippy compact 5000 25c
I think these are 5000mah packs. I flew a longer than usual flight and put them on charge. The Cellpro indicated 12% capacity at the start and I put in almost 4100mah. So, its is more likely these are 5000 than 5800. I could put them on the TP1010 discharger but that will take a while. The IR dropped to 2.5 but it still seems high for a new pack.

RE: zippy compact 5000 25c
I bought 4 packs in the summer of 2012 but they sat until I prepped them for my new Xigris. I noticed one of the packs was 1/8" thinner than the other three and one cell in the pack had a high impedance. The only thing I can figure is the pack is made of 4 5000mAH cells and one mystery cell. HK just got these back in stock so I ordered 1 pack, hopefully it will match the other 3 good ones I have.
Here is part of a post I put out last November . . . . FWIW, all 4 packs have the same labels and identifying marks, one of them is 1/8" narrower. I flew my new (to me) Xigris yesterday with these batteries. The flight seemed OK (plane is still very new to me, I don't think I would have noticed any slight variance in power). But when I recharged the pack, one of the cells had triple the impedance of the other 4 cells (8.7milliohms versus 2.8 milliohms) |
