A question for OhD
Jim:
I'm looking for a regulator and you make 5.7 and 6.0 Volt units. On the F3A site they both say they are 5.7 volt output. Am I correct in assuming that's a typo ? I'm using the Futaba R6208SB (high voltage) receiver operating 3-8411's and 2-BLS 153's. My question is: which regulator would be better for my particular set-up ? Or, am I overthinking and either one will be just fine. Thanks, Randy |

The 5.7 volts would be selected for a 5 cell NiCd or NiMH and will regulate with as low as a 5.9 volt input. |

Thanks Jim, that clears up that mystery.

Randy, that was a typo on the web site that you found, thanks for noticing it and it has been fixed.
Remember about the regulators the difference between the battery voltage and the output of the regulator's voltage has to go somewhere and it is dissipated as heat so the smaller the voltage spread in your system, the more efficient and less heat is created so a 6.0v will be preferred and more efficient and cooler than a 5.7v setup assuming a 2 cell lipo powers the radio. This is all things being equal unless you have servos or receiver that is not happy at 6.0V |

Glad I could help....my English teacher would be so proud... I'll be ordering the 6 volt regulator next week, I'll make sure I put the regulator in some wind. I also want to try your P U x-35c 5s 4500 batteries. The last two sets of batteries I bought somewhere else showed an IR of 10 on several cells after the first charge and they feel weak in flight. Fortunatly, as an Intermediate, the demand on them isn't that big so I can use them for practice. I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. |
