Right Thrust Adjustment Options
2 Attachment(s)
So, I am working with my new etude. When my airplane is established on an upline it arcs to the left. So, I am thinking I need a right thrust adjustment. I have a pletty mounted on an F3A engine mount. My question is where should I shim the motor to add more right thrust? Do I do option 1 or option 2? Or, is there an option 3? Thanks for your help! Ken

Option 1...simple

Ken are you going to have that ready for Green Sea?
|
I don't know if I can make Green Sea. Will be at Charlotte for sure. If I do make it to Green Sea, I will fly my Mythos 125, which is dialed in very well. It likes high winds. :)

Before you make thrust adjustments you might want to make sure your rudder trim isn't off a couple of clicks.
|
What I am going to do is double check the rudder and make sure it is set at 0. (I'm pretty sure it is) Then fly a couple of more uplines and feed in rudder trim. I'm told if you take half of this measurement in degrees that's what you need to add in right thrust.

It looked like the engine was set fine. So I added 6 clicks of right rudder trim and pulled about 15 uplines. Flies the up lines better. Will mess with thrust later.
|
Try flying directly away from you or towards you. If the planes in a straight line the rudder trim is confirmed. A curved path indicates the rudder trim is not correct.
|
As long as there is no cross wind.

As long as the cross wind is steady it will still fly a straight line if the rudder trim is correct.
