It is an easy build and looks great. I have the final CG checks, equipment install, then ready for maiden. The 62" Acuity next to it is a great flyer. Great vertical with a Hacker A50-12S V4 on a 5S setup !!!!! I'm certain the 2M will just just as good, using a Himax 6330-210 with a Falcon 20x12 3-Blade.

The thread mentioned above does not have it all. A lot about motors and escs and redundant set ups. But little on the plane, build and performance.

You are right... no build posted on that thread except how I installed the rudder wire. If you look at the 62" Acuity thread there, everything you need is covered by a couple different people. One exception, everything in the stab/rudder area for the 62" doesn't apply for the 2M.

Actually, the 2M Acuity is an easier build than the 62" Acuity. The 2M uses a wire to attach the rudder (removable), the servos are mounted in the stab, and the stabs are removable.

One guy did maiden there's today. Said it performed well.

There are two assembly steps that require adhesive, the CF control horns in Ailerons and Elevators, and hinging the control surfaces.

There are some areas that require removing covering.

Make sure you have the Canopy on when aligning the Cowl with the Spinner.

Other than that it's pretty straight forward. Elevator servos installed in the stab halves. I used Futaba S9650 for the stabs as the pre-drilled holes fit perfectly.

I fly Intermediate in Pattern, albeit not as well as I want but hope to improve. It is the easiest plane to build, with or without instructions.

If you decide to get one, post any questions here. I'm sure somebody will help. I can post any pics of mine to show how I did it if you want.

Hope this helps.

Larry, I fly intermediate also. Let me know how it goes with the Acuity.

I'm not Larry, but I will tell you that mine is awesome! Fly's a lot like my Proteus.

I will, but having been in and out of the hobby and flew a couple of different pattern planes since 2003, I'm very certain that the plane will fly much better than my skill level will allow. Great investment, which is why I bought it.

FWIW, I am not good enough to tell much of a difference between the various pattern planes I have flown. I would be surprised if many Intermediate pilots could really tell a lot of difference, perhaps those who have flown enough to be ready for Advanced. I would suspect the difference would be centered around the setup, more than the design of a plane in the Intermediate class. Only an opinion, I could be wrong.

Does anyone know if this scheme will. R available here in the US?
Looks like the 2m Element scheme

I haven't heard anything about that but AJ ordered one in this scheme for himself, and then let one of the guys talk him out of it.... lol

As far as the "scheme", the one you are referring to on the Element is actually AJ's competition scheme. They built some of the Lasers like that and now only the 73" is available in what they call the Competition scheme.

Why don't you just shoot the guys at AJ-Aircraft an email and ask?

AJ Scheme....it would match my Hera S AJ's....scheme ;)

We had discussed doing my comp scheme but wasn't sure if folks were interested in it. If there is enough demand for it in the US, we will bring some in.

Andrew

You really should just sell the Hera to me and stop rubbing it in ;)
I think the Competition scheme would sell well, as it is easily identifiable with AJ

Yea I really should, but I'm just not sure you would appreciate it like I do! LOL

What I could do, is send you a very small picture for your night table?

As a matter of fact, there is a recent report on the new 2M Acuity; Jason Shulman just won the FAI Nat's with one that is box stock and using the AJ-Aircraft recommended hardware.... :)

karlwatt 07-30-2017 08:02 PM

Business should really pick up now!

Dansy 07-31-2017 04:20 AM

I'm pretty sure Jason would also win with anything else on the market.......aircraft has little to do with that.

didnt he win a meet with a trainer in the past?

flywilly 07-31-2017 05:04 AM

I wonder how much AJ paid Jason? And if he didn't he sure owes him... :-)

flyncajun 07-31-2017 08:02 AM

Hey Guys

Do not discount Jason ,or the airplane they both did their job in some tough conditions.
I was a the Nat`s and watched Pretty much every round, Brett Judged a few rounds of FAI and got a front row seat to the action , We were impressed with the Model and Jason`s flying.
I`ll say this, the Acuity Is a great Value. I was most impressed at the AJ Motor in some really stiff winds. Jason was On Pont ! and I sure hope he flies with that confidence at the WC in Argentina he was rock solid, unshakable. The Acuity is a great deal, nice looking plane, and I applaud AJ Aircraft for putting a light affordable airplane on the market of this caliber. The Pattern Market needs this.

Now there are two Low cost airplanes to choose from with F3A unlimited and AJ. Both are first class models.
Do not hesitate to believe its the real thing.

Bryan

I know it on good authority that is was a box of Very Berry cherrios. :D

I saw the deal go down. It would have been a fresh gallon of milk as well but Jason thought it would go bad on the way home from Andrews yesterday.

Very classy post Bryan!

Congratulations to Jason for an outstanding flying performance and to Andrew for an outstanding design performance. The Acuity reminds me of the Focus, a bit of a 'Plain Jane' design that is very well executed. The intent was also the same for both models; an affordable pattern ship. The Focus also won the Nationals (2003) and was a hugely popular and competitively successful airplane at the time. I noticed that Jason made a slight 'enhancement' with the air dams on the wings. AJ may have to add that as an option. I'd love to hear Jason's thoughts on their addition. I am sure they are only necessary for F3A level competition. As an aside, the Acuity looks remarkably similar to Wolfgang Matt's new design, the 'Angelit' which is available (or will be soon) from Hui Yang (Oxai) at a significantly different price point. Historically, the K.I.S.S. approach to pattern design has proven quite successful as demonstrated by Hanno Prettner's 'Calypso'. Lastly, getting a rousing endorsement from Bryan Hebert, is tantamount to a papal blessing. I am sure there will be a lot of Acuitys appearing soon at a contest near you. AJ might need to ramp up production a bit :-)

PS AJ flew a Focus, too.
